prolactin, comparing drugs

perfectspecimen

New member
to reduce prolactin levels there is
bromocriptine which has heavy sides
clasteberry which increases progesterone

so both are off.

are there anyother meds availavle to us.

Deprenyl will work by increasing the amount of dopamine available. I do not know the exact mechanism behind it but for some reason increase dopamine will inhibit the production of prolactin. I do not think it works to the extent that bromocriptine does though. It is rather inexpensive too at about 40-50 USD for 50 5mg pills. There are some precautions that must be taken though. Never take more than 10mg a day. At does higher than 10mg it may act like a Selective MAO-A inhibitor. MAO-A’s can cause sever side effect known as the “cheese effect” in which it reacts with tryamines to raise your blood pressure to dangerous levels and you may also experience asthma like symptoms. At does of 5-10 mg a day it will not cause any problems. The recommend dose is 10-15 mg a week for healthy individual. I personally take 5mg a day and it has the added effect of an anti-depressant and increase sexual drive etc. As a matter of fact it seems to work better than any SSRI (Paxil, Celexa etc) that I have used for depression in the past. This drug is especially good for those who have abused dopamine-depleting substances such as cocaine in the past. But as always remember what may be good for one person may not work for another.

All I can say for the momemt is that you'll know the answer
to that question in 2-3 weeks.

You just need to go real slow with the bromocriptine at first to see how your system tolerates it, and to adjust to it. It can kinda sneak up on you so when I mean go slow I mean it. Just take it every other day at night with like 1 mg (half or a third of a 2.5 mg pill, and slowly work up to every day dosages at higher levels). Also take a break from it on weekends and stuff. Be careful of rebound effects from other dopamine inhibitors and/or agonists. For instance, alcohol will give me a rebound effect that increases the effect of bromo. What I am saying is a few drinks seems to inhibit dopamine but when the alcohol wears off I get this rebound effect, typically in the middle of the night waking me up or making me restless. I think this can happen with GHB, too but I have never taken that.

I think you're exactly right. I've read that when GHB wears off, after 2 to 3 hours, you wake up WIDE awake from the rush of dopamine in the brain.
