Progress question

I'm running a program that has me working out 3 days a week doing mainly compound lifting exercises. It consists basically of 2 warm-ups, 4 heavy sets (max weight to failure) with the occasional superset thrown in.

I'm reached week 6 in the program and week 7 calls for me to switch things up to different variations of the previous exercises, but rather then the 4 heavy sets, it calls for 10 sets with a weight I can do no more then 20 reps.

I understand that this is to not allow the body to get used to particular motions. I do have a couple questions though.

1) Is 6 weeks enough for you to plateau on a particular movement?

2) Will my body still grow during this 3 week 10 set phase? Or is is simply to confused the muscles?

Thanks

First, some info needed. How old are you and how long have you been training for?

I'm all for switching things up quite often. However, if you're young or fairly new to weight training, I'd suggest you stick with the compounds for a while.

nobodys going to be able to answer those questions for you, everyones body will grow at different rates and respond differently to different tactics, thats the beauty of this sport getting to know your body and dial everything in from your routine to diet...just keep at it and you will learn how your body adjust and eventually will be putting together your own programs that best suit yourself.

My body Platues in like 2-3wks. Id say you would def in 6...tahts way to long fot jsut doing sets of 10 especially. But like gstacker said we cant really awsner that for you.

You will definatly grow for sure, not much, but its main purpose is to shock your body so you can ultimatly lift more when you do the heavy 4x10 rep lifts.
