Problems with my body and overall posture.

The gym trainer called me into his office. He told me to take off my shirt.

1) The fucker acuses me of juicing. I told him all Ive ever used was creatine - and that i took in pill form without grape juice and that it never even worked for me.
He doesn't believe me. But he will give me the benefit of the doubt because I am turning sixteen.

2) He told me I'm probably not going to grow anymore than 5 cms more. Im 5'5 and that was not nice to hear. At 16 and with all the weights I have done supposedly it's gonna be very hard to grow anymore. WTF.

3) He checked somethings with my posture and development. He said a few things. My left trap is larger than the right. My right peck is larger than the left (?)
He also told me that my shoulders seem to hunching forward and that I need to work on my back to bring my posture straight up. He told me I also had some probs with the curvature in my spine. He said I should perform circuit training that he will guide me through and that I might lose 5lbs of muscle, but it will be good for me because I will gain 10lbs more later.

OK, I understand that he is qualified to tell me about my posture problems . But what do you think about this circuit training shit? I still make good gains and I add to my lifts every week - I see no need for changes. I mean I can work on the back like he told me - but I dont want to lose 5lbs when I can continue gains.
He told me that if I continue one day my gains will just stop. Every other 3 months I should go down in weights and intensity and perform resistance exercises and then weights are sure to come back steady and will never stop.

Shit bro, you must look good for him to accuse you of juicing. He may be jealous of you though, so beware of any hints or anything. Youll prolly grow an inch or two, dont worry bout it...How tall are your parents, grand parents etc..?

Here is my opinion:

When you are sick you go to the doctor and you get better.

When you want to lift more you go to the trainer and you get better.

He/She is a progessional. They know what they are talking about. I would listen, at the least.
:karate:

Him telling you to take off your shirt & accusing you of juicing wasn't the best intro he could have used...certainly doesn't seem very professional... not seen many people correctly anticipate maximim human height at 16 yrs of age just by looking at you...hmmmm

some people round their shoulders due to overtraining their chest, not stretching pecs, performing back movements with limited ROM or lacking complete contractions during back training (arms working as 'hooks', shoulders back & down, elbows behind, squeezing shoulder blades-rhomboids- together at peak of the movement)...are you sure it is from curvature of your spine? do your palms face backward when standing? A little self-assessment maybe will help...

The circuit training he advised is to adjust your posture, and losing 5 lbs will correct the problem?

i dont know about the losing 5lbs thing. if hes doing what i think he is planning, it is a type of training designed to optimize your stability and increase your ability to recruit fibers. its a good way to go if you want to optimize your lifts and keep from plateauing. if hes competent you will gain alot. i dont know about circuit training, i believe its more of an interval training regimine. you shouldnt lose any muscle though, if anything you might pick up a bit due to the new stress on your body. like i said, im not sure what he had planned, but thats what id do. if you are rounding in the shoulders already, you should implement a corrective stretching program. ie. stretch your chest and LATS. those are the big 2 for protracted shoulder girdle. make sure you do your rowing motions to full contraction at the top to bring the rhomboids into play which help to keep your shoulders back. working in perfect posture will promote perfect posture. all shoulder presses, lateral raises, bicep curls tricep extensions, everything you do standing....perfect posture. head straight, shoulders back, back flat.

as for him thinking you were juicing.....tell him "thank you, i must be doing this natural shit pretty good then.....heheheh".

I had read that juicing while you are still growing will cause your bones to stop growing. Unfortunatly this is true guys. It was a clinical study so I have to say if you aren't at least 18 you shouldn't be juicing.

Never said he was juicing...just passing on the info to inform the young bro's. Actually I found the study and cut out this portion to share:

Premature Closure of Growth Plates.
Chronic steroid usage prior to puberty or in early adolescence can cause premature closure of the growth plates of the long bones, preventing the young user from attaining full natural height. For this reason as well as others previously discussed, teenagers should not use steroids for muscle building.

Just to reiterate these statements.... I was discussing this recently with a buddy of mine who's a trainer, specifically about poor back form. How many guys do you see load up the seated row or lat pulldown and jerk the weight to their chest and pretty much let it fall forward again.

Blood, I don't mean to suggest you're doing this, just wanted to stress the importance of form and stretching on back excercises. Hope it helps.

Yo man this guy sounds like a fucking asshole to me. Some bitch tells you to take off your damn shirt? I woulda spit in his face like fuck you ya queer. Fuck that bro dont let anyone accuse you of juicing happens to me all the time at my school and with teachers and shit its so fucked up. They just cant believe that a teenager can actually get BIG without roids. Stupid fucks if you ask me!!
:D:D

If someone accuses you of juicing when your not why don't you just sarcastically ask them if they want to buy some? If they say no then just tell them to shut the fuck up. If they say yes then you know it's all about JEALOUSY!!!!

Some excellent advice bros.
He is competent and knows a lot of shit - and it is true I do have probs with posture. I just shrug forward a bit. It's not exagerated so that my palms face backwards. They are a bit more than 45 degrees inward though - which is a bit abnormal. How should I go about doing the cirucuit training?

Is this necessary from plateauing in the long run for ANY weight lifter? He told me that if you won't, 10 years from now you will start to see probs. Right now, anything goes. 10yrs from now you will see the fruits of your labor.

I saw some circuit training routines on August's flex.
He is a busy guy and wants to send me to keep in contact by email since Ill be on a plane friday to france= no trainers there in the gym. But i get the feeling he just wanted to point it out, and he doesnt want to be my personal trainer for free. SHould I take up flexs circuit training? Should I follow a bulk diet - since this is mainly for stability and fat loss? Or should I just go on and jump on a cut as it will do me more good (added stability, less fat rather than added stability, and more fat).

Opinions are appreciated.

Blood get another personal trainer. This guy seems to play on your weaknesses and insecurities to get what HE wants. A client. Get a guy the can use your faults contructivly and not just point out your weaknesses and how he can help if you just hire him. There is a professional way of doing things in this world and it's unfortunate older guys treat younger guys with such disrespect. If anyone told me to take off my shirt then accused me of taking roids I'd smack him silly till he'd call me mama. He took advantage of your youth and intimidated you to make himself look better. I'm sure he doesn't do this with the MEN. My advice...drop him and look for someone better!

Blood, I'm still interested in seeing your before and after pics.. Sounds to me ur one huge 16 year old. I'm not flaming, just curious. Please post sometime soon.
Thanks

I'm sure the gym must have some rules about trainers taking young boys into their rooms and asking them to strip. If that had happened when I was there I'd be in the managers office making a formal complaint. I dont care whether it was perfectly innocent or not, that sort of behaviour is completely out of order.

BTW if he thinks that he can determine whether you are using gear just by looking at you he obviously doesnt know very much despite what you said about him. If he was correct why would people spend good money on developing tests for this??

Another thing that this very knowledgable (lol) PT is wrong on is that lifting wont stunt growth.....ask him for references from peer-reviewed journals and watch him try to find somewhere to hide as he just gives you some bullshit line. Also, very few people are perfectly symmetrical.....he is looking to play on your weaknesses.

This sounds to me like he wants to use you to drum up some business. He probably saw that you are in good shape, and if he is training you everybody will think that it is all down to him.

I think that there are more bad PT's than good ones. This is a good example of a bad one.....somebody who likes to play the expert without knowing the facts. I bet he uses alot of big words too just to make him sound smart.

since he accused him of juicing hes probably referring to the studies that were done on the effects of exogenous hormones and the premature closing of the epiphyseal plates. ie....juice and growth being stunted.

yes, im a PT too.

his accusing you was unprofessional in approach and probably driven by business, but with younger guys you have to be a bit more direct. especially those wanting to get big. you cant just say "hey bro, im gonna have you blowin up". you gotta tell em something they dont know otherwise whats the difference between reading flex magazine (hehe) and having someone tell him to hit benches, deads and squats and drink his protein shakes? there are unscrupulous people everywhere, its tough to say whether this guy was or not. he could be very familiar with what he was talking about but not good at being tactful. hehe. i know a few like that. like elephants in a china shop sometimes. LOL

Re: Re: Re: Problems with my body and overall posture.

Point taken.

Maybe I am reading to much into the order things were written but in the original post the PT seemed to say he would accept that BJ wasnt juicing......then says his growth/gains would be stunted "after all the weights I (he) had done".

I understand that you have to be a bit more direct with young guys, but taking them into your office and asking them to strip? He didnt ask for this consultation so why? I think I'm missing something :)

You'll have to excuse my point about bad PT's.....I've come across a few too many of them :)

And thanks for not trying to confuse me with all those nasty big words :) :)

Well I did feel rather uncomfortable, he is a 6'5 black guy that squats 2 of me for reps, and him looking down on me telling me to take off my shirt was in fact not cool. But he was not checking me out , at least he made a good job of covering up for that. But, this is brazil, they could give a shit about complaints. The country has bigger probs than a black guy checking kids out in his office.

I laughed so hard at that. Was that a joke? In the US do you guys have signs : NO STRIPPING AND CHECKING OUT LITTLE BOYS IN OFFICES PLEASE.

wtf?

Well in some countries you could get in big trouble for inappropriate behaviour directed at young people in private. Some countries take this to extremes. At the end of the day you are 16 (right?).....alot of people would consider you young and vulnerable lol :)

It was half serious and half joking......
