Problem with NPC competitions

I am an open heavy weight competitor and I did 2 shows this year in Texas. I didn't even get on stage for my show on June 1 until after midnight. The same was the case with a local show I saw a little over a week ago. This really pisses me off because as an open competitor I have paid my dues and by the time I get on stage nobody is there because the contest has already been going on for 5 hours. I feel bad asking my friends to come see me because most of them aren't even in to bodybuilding but just want to support me and they have to sit around for so long. I can't really blame the people for leaving either. The main reason it takes so long now is because of the figure division and there are just so many women competitors. I think they should have the fitness and figure compete on the night before or at least let the open competitors go before novice. Sorry for the rant, it's just something I have been thinking about. Has anyone else noticed this or have any ideas to make things better? I think maybe some of us bodybuilders should email the contest promoter (in this case it is Prince Harrison of Optimum Fitness) and let him know we think there should be some changes. Thanks for listening - cbeaks

I agree cbeaks....I've seen it happen with big shows and shows with about 35 competitors total (fitness, figure and bblders). The shows never start on time and are always disorganized. I called the main NPC office when the show I was training for was cancelled 3 weeks out. The head NPC guy in my region returned my call the easy my frustrations. Call the NPC and let them know. The promoter promotes the show, but the judges are the ones who should keep the show running at a good pace.

This is all common place with NPC shows. You can call the head office of the NPC to complain and you will find out that they don't give a rat's ass about competitors. This will continue until there is an alternative org. to the NPC. All these little off beat natural orgs. are a joke. Right now the NPC has a monopoly on bodybuilding competition in this country. How about the fucking judging, I've been to shows where the average homeless person, could have done a better job after drinking a few bottles of Maddog 20/20.

Thanks Rico Suave

The show I competed in had over 100 competitors. I think the one on September 28 had more than 130 men and women competitors. - cbeaks

I have to agree totally with you here, the Figure Nationals ( Team Universe ) in NYC this year was a disgrace. Four out of the top five ladies in the country were screwed.......too bad because 3 pro cards were awarded to each class.

I don't think I could judge the women very well because the judges are always changing what they are looking for. They can't be extremely muscular or too lean yet they still need to be lean and muscular. With men, we just have to be as big and lean as possible. - cbeaks

We need set criteria that judges base their decisions on, and we need to keep politics out of NPC shows. Politics are destroying the credability of both NPC and IFBB shows. How do we do that? I haven't the slightest idea.
