Pride Shockwave

Overall I thought it was kind of boring.

Im glad Silva beat Arona. Fedor beating Zulu in seconds was cool. Gomi's Ko was cool.

I was dissapointed in CroCop vs Hunt. I think CroCop should drop to 205.

Did anyone catch Hendo vs Busta??? I missed it.

I was pissed the thompson vs. giant silve fight wasnt on or alex vs. natsula, they left a good amount of fights off the ppv, i was not happy about that.

I think the Bustamante/ Henderson decision was bad. I think Arona could easily have beaten Vanderlei if he hadn't decided to fight the last round on his back. Hunt/ CroCop is right. I think Sakurai has the nastiest leg kick I've ever seen. I would rather have seen the other Emalienenko fight. Fedor just shit stomped Zuluzhino. I was looking forward to seeing Nakamura/ Kondo also. Ogawa cannot translate his Judo effectively to MMA.

Lots of mixed feelings about the fights. Ones worth making comment on:

Hunt vs. Cro cop. Great fight, IMO. Those roundhouses and ax kicks made me jump out of the couch a couple times, but I knew Hunt wasn't going down....Hunt is one tough SOB. Fight could have gone either way, Crocop landed those devastating blows, but Hunt took the fight to him.

I didn't think Hayato Sakurai deserved to be in the same ring with Gomi. To me it wasn't about who was going to win that one, but how long it was going to take Gomi to KO Sakurai. (Gomi vs Penn II would be awesome! Also the fight I've been saying for years: Gomi vs M. Hughes at 175lbs-ooooooh!-gives me chills.)

Fedor is the man. It's always nice to see a masacre every once and a while.

Same thing with Silva/Arona fight. Could have gone either way, Silva couldn't stop Arona's take downs, but Silva took it to him.

Overall, it was worth 20 dollars for a Sunday evening.

I really don't think Silva took it to Arona. If he really did, he would have been more aggressive when Arona was in guard. Silva was content to stand and flick half hearted leg kicks. Gone was the high flying head stomp and he made no effort to pass Arona's guard. On the feet Arona was just as aggressive and scored more with his takedowns.

I had to download seperately the Giant Silva Vs Thompson fight. I felt really sad for the Giant just like I felt sad for Zulu. They are like these massive poor guys who are only in MMA for their sheer size. They both got demolished so quickly. The Giant just kind of laid there and tried to protect himself from the Thompson beast until it was over, almost like he was getting beat by his father. Then Zulu just flat out got spanked. He has such a babyface and I don't think he'll ever be taken seriously again after this fight.

The Crocop Vs Hunt fight was alright but damn Crocop really needs to stop bicycling around the ring its ridculous. Maybe that is his strategy but its annoying to watch sometimes.

Those half hearted kicks weren't meant to do damage, it was a little frustration and a little bit of getting the crowd on his side. That's all that Arona could do was takedowns, he couldn't work from inside Silva's guard just like Silva in Arona's guard. Most of the time, Arona landed in Silva's guard whenever he took him down although a couple times he got in half-guard/side mount.

Silva was content in the stand-up, but Arona wanted to take it to the ground. Good fight all around, like I said before, could have gone either way.
