Do you have PowerPoint on your computer?

Try right clicking, select open with. When it gives oyu a list of progrmas to choose from, select Powerpoint, even if it the already suggested one.

I do not get the "open with "option. It's weird. I know computers pretty well but this is baffling me

You can open PPS files without powerpoint. They are designed to be used for computers without powerpoint. You will still need powerpoint viewer which is free.

downloading this now......will try this...

How to create file associations for unassociated file types
You may want to create a file association for a file type that is not associated with a program in your computer. There are two common reasons for this action: • A program such as a database produces file reports with extensions that are not registered in Windows XP.
• You receive e-mail message attachments that are created in a program that is not installed on your computer, but there is an installed program that can read these files.
To create file association: 1. Right-click a file with the extension that you want to change, and then click Open, or double-click the file.
2. Windows XP displays a dialog box that indicates that no program is associated with this file. The dialog box offers two choices for creating an association:• Use the Web service to find the appropriate program • Select the program from a list Unless you want to find and download software that opens this file type, the best choice is to select the program from a list.

in bold....that is what I do not get....I don't get 2 boxes. I get just a msg with no option to change the program to open with? I am usually swift on figuring this out...but am LOST

I get that problem with some of my pron.

Hey blue...have you tried this:

Open Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer)
From the Tools menu, select Folder Options
Click the File Types tab

In the Registered File Types pane, make sure there is an entry for PPS. Click this entry, and then details will appear in the pane below. You should see a line that says "Opens With" and then a button next to it that says "Change". Click this button, and then select Microsoft PowerPoint, and hit OK.
