Postmaster@elitefitness VIRUS!

SofaGeorge

New member
I just received an email allegedly from Postmaster@elitefitness with attached files.

The email address does not exist at Elite Fitness and the attached files are virus infected.

And be warned - this is a very harsh virus that is relatively new. Unless you have recently updated .dat files you will not detect it.

I dont believ that its an official EF user and likely someone created the account to help fool people into opening the virus files.

It's absolutely NOT an official EF user. I already checked the email address. It doesn't exist here.

Bump this till we know if other people are being sent the same letter. It is titled "Support them"

Open relay

An open relay allows outside spammers to user your mail server. This is not necessarily the problem. I would guess it is not the problem at all or you would have been getting a ton of nasty messages from Spamcop or others like them. I am assuming someone just made it look like an e-mail address from elite. Foward the message to me and I will check it out. Please note that someone can also "spoof" a fake e-mail address in some cases. There are so many ways to do it. However, I do not think you are open for relay if it has never happend before. Open relays are like smooth legs for mosquitos. Spammers would have found it a long time ago. Also, they would not waste their time sending viruses. They would be trying to make money by sending thousands of messages through your mail server.
