I am currently cutting right now, and need some opinions on PWO shakes.

I'm using Protoplex right now
Calories: 300
Protein: 43g
Carbs: 27g
Fat: 2.5g (.5 Sat. fat)

I'm not really looking for more protein neccesarily. Just a good quality powder. You thoughts?

labrada lean body shakes always worked the best for me 340cals 45pro 7fat 30carb they also have lean body with low carb that has only 12g of carbs!!

Don't trust your labels. There's no regulation on the contents of supplements so your protoplex shake could be nothing more than Nesquick with a bullshit label. I trust Beverly International products though cuz I've known the owner for almost 20 yrs.

Beverly International is the best. I also like truemass by the noxplode fellas.

make your own!

2 scoops whey protein
3-5g CEE
10g L-glutamine
1/2 cup maltodextrin
1/3 cup dextrose

totals 800 cals, 50g protein, 130g carbs

This is pretty good, but I'd scratch the malto and do 50 grams of dextrose, 35 grams of whey, and 10 grams of glutamine. You'll crash harder, but it will restore glycogen levels faster and give you a good insulin spike. Save the complex carbs for about an hour later with a full meal. Maltodextrin does have a pretty high GI though, so it wouldn't hurt much to throw it in with the dextrose.

800 cals? 130g carbs?
I'll keep that in mind when I'm bulking. That is 45% of my cals IN for the day.

perhaps the only time you and i will be on the same page

labrada products as of a couple of years ago(no body building supps for me for a couple of years) were the best in my opinion
he carried no cutting edge products. all his stuff was tried and true.
inexpensive and high quality.
lean body was a great meal replacement and probably still is.

And put it in water. You want to avoid fat after a workout because it slows absorption. Those of you with fat in your PW shakes have room for improvement.

yep i make mine too. always at least 40g whey, 100g malto/dext (for postWO, i don't see any point in skimping on the carbs), no fat

in water. sometimes a canteloupe thrown in. or ice cream if i'm in a bad mood.

You can avoid the crash Krishna is referring to by eating a mix of low and high GI such as oatmeal with dextrose and whey.

ah, c'mon.....whats the fun without a crash?

What is your opinions of "Muscle Milk" and "NitroTech"

Lets just say I pay close attention to the way a company advertises. Take a look at the musclemilk label and note how many colors are in it. Every color added after black or white costs more. Photographs in labels/ads cost more to print too(like on Labrada's). Same rules usually apply to ads in magazines. So if a product contains all of this fancy shmancy labeling and advertises the same way, you've gotta wonder how much $$$ is being spent on product. My guess is that 9 outta 10x the packaging/marketing costs more than the product itself. This doesn't mean that the product is shit. It just not be worth what you're paying for it compared to other brands. How do you tell if it's shit or not? Beats me. That's why I buy anything on the clearance shelf for protien powder. Sometimes it's packaged pretty like Muscletech. Sometimes it comes in this lame o bucket that loooks like something you'd seal your driveway with. I figure since I usually pay 1/2 off by buying clearance products, if I constantly change up products I won't be getting burned continually. Also keep in mind that once reputable companies like EAS sell out and decrease their product's quality to increase profits once they have you hooked.

I am using insulin (5 IU) these days post workout. So, 100 grams proteins and 50 grams carbs from MRP. Then after 15 minutes creatine (5 grams). So far so good.

800 cals is 45% of your cals while bulking?!?! 1800 cals seems more like a cutter to me... i eat that much before noon... one of those shakes would be one of my 6 meals per day =P
