Post workout meal.

I have always been prone to adding the chubb so have to watch my food, especially carb intake. Is it so much better to take 50g or so of dextrose post workout? At the moment I take 50g whey and a large banana as I am concerned the simple sugars would make me add bodyfat.
I guess my question is would I see any real benefit from the dextrose and is it likely I will add fat?
Thanks.

sugar in your first PW meal will not make you fat..and by using a bannana you're refilling liver glycogen instead of muscle glycogen.

but isn´t the PW meal to replenish muscle glycogen, as opposed to liver glycogen, especially when cutting?

I use 50gr of dextrose in my PW SHAKE and my PW MEAL(+-1h30min after) its oats with whey but I dont think a banana would hurt your diet even if u are trying to get cut. Although I would use half of a banana and 50gr of whey

thats what I said, the bannana is going to refill liver glycogen PW...not good.

fructose refills liver glycogen rather than muscle, and over doing it can cause the fructose to spill over into fat cells. Besides the main goal of PW is to provide fuel to recharge muscles not the liver. I like to sip or eat dextrose midway during my workout, and take whey after my workout. Sweetarts are usually good to munch on...

What about dates PW? they´re probably mostly fructose, so they are bad?

thanx

dates are great PW... they have a GI of about 95, making them very high on the charts.... DIG IN!

I, the poor bastard I am, use UTZ pretzels post workout. The big tubs are way cheap, and they have a fairly high GI.. 85 or so... Cheerios are also a good choice.. as are corn flakes, etc...

stick to glucose or dextrose/malto post workout with hydrolised whey and you can't go wrong :)

tried tested and shit.. hey my motto is if it aint broke dont fix it

there was some research done on the goodness of dates... i cant recall the name of the author but it was a phd paper i read. I think that, although being very high on the GI scale, is a very good energy food and very nutrient dense.

I love dates!

I just would like to know if they are high in fructose or rather in glucose...

Isn´t there a chart with all the fruits listed and their glucose and fructose ratio? lol :D
