Post workout meal or shake?

Whats better after an intense workout? a meal or shake?
Because lately ive been eating a foot long chicken fillet subway after my workouts ;0 because subway on my way home...
any comments?
 
Get yourself some liquid protein and Carbs ASAP after your workout. Then, about 90 minutes later, a REAL balanced meal.

Eating that processed shit from places like Subway is a waste of calories.

Hey Flubberboy,

places like subway use only the cheapest of processed ingredients. The cheese is not cheesee, but rather a cheese food, much like cheese whiz, the cold cuts are really bad, just plain low quality. The french bread roll is another piece of junk. Hi on the GI scale and ofters practically no fiber whatsoever.

Now if you go out and buy all the ingredients found on one of the Subs, but REAL cheese, quality meat, and a REAL Whole Wheat roll, then you would have a meal worth eating. But, that would be more expensive than subway, and would mean work putting it together....

well nutrition wise the 6" chicken fillet subway has
494 calories
32 protein
49 carbs
19 fat
doesnt that count towards anything?
 
I don't know what you're talkin about. Subway is good shit.

In a 6 inch subway club, you get around 30g protien, 450g calories, 5g fat. Compare that to a big mac.
 
A liquid meal is best because it gets absorbed much faster than whole foods do! Hence, repair muscles and replenish stores much faster.
 
I use a protien drink, 48g's and then like 20 mins later half a gatorade for some carbs.... about an hour to 2 hours later, i eat a real meal
