Was at a meeting this morning where the CEO of a New Zealand live cell company gave a lengthy talk on what cell therapy is, how it works and the benefits to people with severe illnesses and a whole range of other conditions. A local gentleman who had been diagnosed with terminal chronic type II diabetes, severe peripheral circulatory damage, 90% loss of sight in one eye, on maximum medication, had already suffered two myocardial infarctions and almost had both feet amputated because of the lack of circulation to his extremities was there to relate his story of how he had regained his life, 50% of his sight and the use of his feet in only four months of cell therapy. He was also completely off all medications. It has to be said that he wasn’t exactly a picture of health but he was alive and active which is something if you’re doctors have thrown up their hands and said all you can do is wait to die. Also amongst those present was a former Mr. Universe who (I assume) was looking into how cell therapy can be used in the bodybuilding world.
Anyways all very interesting and the first hand accounts of efficacy were very impressive however nearing the end one of the group asked whether cell therapy could help a friend of his who’d recently been diagnosed with HIV. In response the CEO answered affirmatively using the word ‘cure’. At that point a siren is going off in my head. To be honest up until this morning I knew little to nothing about cell therapy but even so it still seemed to me to be an overly bold claim to make.
Any of you amateur chemists know anything about cell therapy, have used it or know of someone that’s used it? Do you think it’s possible or is this guy just another snake oil salesman?
