Initial makes relatively cheap ones that last. I've had a few others and they all crapped out after a few months.

I'd wait til it's a family gift and really look into it first. Until then just go with the gameboy advanced or something 'she' can use.

Cheap Ones will run you $200-300. The cheapest laptop that you would find new with a DVD will probably at least $800-1,000 minus all that rebate BS. You could find a use laptop for $500 with a DVD. The laptop is a better route to good if you wanna spent the extra cash. Way bigger screen plus you can do more with a laptop.

Which one bro? The suggestion of getting a laptop is`nt a bad idea now that I think of it. They will no doubt be a larger screen. with relatively the same or slightly higher price fr loads more stuff.

I have a laptop....we used it on a trip and it sucked...we had to have speakers too because the volume out of the laptop was not loud enough in the car....it was too bug to sit on myt daughters lap too.

My wife bought me on....it is the Eddie Baurer Audiovox one...only about $300....no a high end one, but it is pretty nice for what we want to ues it for...it has a 7" screen. My daughter digs it.

Now I want the 42" LCD I seen at best buy.
