One of my daughter's friends is spending the night. She has 6 brothers and sisters and they are poor as dirt. I can't believe the mom just recently had another child. Probably for the extra welfare benefits. We have got to pass a law on how many children people can have. Unless all the dumbasses want to pay for other people's children until we're all poor. They probably believe they're not suppose to use contraception, since it is against God's law.

limiting the number of children somebody has is not in line with the constitution. particularly if you are basing your restraints on the persons income bracket.

If you do not scale welfare benefits based on the number of dependents it is the children you are punishing.

Also, consider that people do not have to spend their entire lives on welfare. Supposing a mother with 5 kids loses her husband to an accident. She needs welfare to get back on her feet. Without scaling the benefits, her children will suffer....

I hate to be the one to tell you, but being rich/well off does not guarantee that they will be any better parent than these "poor" people you speak of. I have seen so many families where the parents had the children because it was expected of them, and now they just push the kids off on nannies and baby sitters. The size of a person's bank balance doesn't make them qualified to be parents. It's all about what is inside of them, what they can give that child from their heart. Yeah, maybe one can buy their child a new car or send them to private schools, but what about the emotional commitment?

I have eight brothers and sisters. Six of them are full, two are half. One is a graduate of Johns Hopkins, one is a graduate of Harvard currently seeking her doctorate at U of M in Ann Arbor, one is a Yale graduate currently seeking her masters, and another is attending school in New Orleans. My Dad has a masters and has taught Spanish at ISU, U of AR & VMI. We all grew up poor as dirt and for a short time we were on food stamps to make ends meet. I'm sure a lot of people said the same thing about us when I was growing up.

As for welfare, of course their are people using this program for its purpose. Many of them do in fact need the help. The problem is most of the people using this program are doing nothing more than abusing the system and giving the others a bad name.

My parents spent a lot of time with us. My dad made us help him around the place even when I'm sure it would have been less of a hassle for him to just do it himself. He took my little brother and me fishing even though he wasn't much into it himself. My mom was great- I think she read us the whole set of the "Little House on the Prairie" books.

I still remember my Dad buying me a $20 BMX bike from The Salvation Army for Christmas and the time I needed gym shoes in first grade and all my mom could find were some girls shoes so she stayed up late that night coloring in all the pink trim with a magic marker so I wouldn't feel self-conscious at school. I had (have) some damn fine parents.

Sorry, but I will always support individual freedom, not government restrictions in most cases. The government has no right to tell someone how many kids they may have. This type of thinking only leads to more government intrusion into our lives.

Note: I do not support any type of social programs, whether it be social welfare, corporate welfare, etc...

Yes, for the most part we grew up on a farm. I think that welfare is abused in some cases, but I don't think it should be abolished.

You won't think it's riduculous if things become the way they are in China. You people are the ones who are not realistic, sometimes the government has to step in to protect people from fucking up other people's lives with their irresponsible decisions. Like I said, I live around these people everyday and it pisses me off that they're so damn stupid that they keep on having children when they can't even pay their rent. I, you have to pay it.
