poor flexibility

what stretching excersizes can i do for my shoulders? For instance, its hard for me to put my hand very far behind my back, i compared how far i could compared to a couple of my friends.

What do you guys do for flexibility? what excersizes, how often and for how long? And When do you do them in relation to working out that bodypart?
 
lie on a bench and put your arms behind your head fully extended, and try to work your arms down. i like to put the bench close enough to a wall so tha ti can walk my fingers down the wall, and hold the stretch when i feel it tighten up. als you can take a dumbell and do sub scap stretches. lie on the bench and with a pair of DBs in hand, keep your arms at a 90 degree angle. and let the dumbells kind of some past your forhead. but dont let your Dbs get to far past your elbow. those will loosen your shoulder up a bit. also stretching your chest out will help.
