Pls. help me find the best web based email account

I would like to change my email account to a permant one that I will use for years to come. As of now I primarily use one from my cable internet provider and cannot check email from anywhere but my home computer.

I am looking for a long-term solution and don't mind paying for premium web-based email. I would like to be able to store my read messages for future reference. I am also irritated by spam.

Any help on what is the best would be appreciated very much!
