Plasma TV's!

are they really that good... i am considering getting a new tv but i don't get to watch very much minus the simpsons and wrestling, but i would like something nice to sit down and watch movies on.

I don't see what the big deal is. they have them at best buy, so you can go in and see one. The picture is clearer and more real looking, but who cares? I don't think its worth spending 5-10x as much as an HDTV. big screen plasma = $10k, big screen HDTV = $2k, regular big screen = $1k. Maybe in a couple of years it will be worth the extra money.

On another note, 32' tvs are down to about $340 now. Kick ass.

You should check out the new small LCD TV's. They are just 15-20" computer monitors with tuners and speakers. They have great picture quality and would be very nice to have them on a desk, kitchen, etc to view in close distance.

My local Now Audeo Video has a Pioneer 42 inch, and it almost makes me drop a load everytime I look at it.

Make sure you get an HDTV plasma. Not all are HDTV equipped.

Not really.... the 40 inch I am getting for $2999. It retails for $4999. I have a previous purchase credit at Sound Advice. The 61 inch, I am getting it at cost from the owner of Home Design. For $5000. I am not sure of the retail for it.

It will drop significantly after the Super bowl.

Thats a pretty good price, only about 2x as much as a regular HDTV (as opposed to 5x as much). At best buy, they run $11k for a 61" tv.

I hear they have problems with displaying black accurately. most of them display it kind of grey. Anal, If you can afford to drop 8 grand on TVs I want to marry you.

HEY!!! Just saw the new plasma tv at Gateway today. It is great. (but not HDTV equipped. It is compatible though) It is 42 inches and $2999.

The picture and clarity is really great too. I think it is a bargain. I am not sure what some of other electronic whizs on here would rate it as though.

But it is priced very competitive.

shit, i'm happy with my 54" projection tv... i cant see buying a tv that cost half as much as a car.
