Planning a Wedding - Your Thoughts?

Heya all :-)

Is anyone here currently planning their wedding, or have recently done so? Just wondering if I could pick your brains!

I'm developing a website to help people in planning their weddings, but it is intended to be more help than the usual websites giving tips and a few pictures etc. I want the website to be really involved, and to be something that is used throughout the whole planning process rather than being something you look at for a few ideas and then go away and sort it all out yourself. It is going to be an interactive website, so you will be able to log into the site and there will be several personalised aspects to it.

I've got a whole load of ideas for features that I would put into this website, and these come from my own personal ideas of what would be useful as well as from having worked in a Wedding Florist for five years. I've helped with the weddings of many other people, but don't have my own personal perspective of getting married as I haven't done so yet! This is where I was hoping some of you lovely ladies might come in :)

Have any of you recently got married or are planning to do so in the near future? How are you / did you go about planning your wedding? Did you use the internet? How did you record your thoughts and ideas? How did you decide in what order to do things - did you follow a particular book or magazine guide, or did you just decide yourself?

If you were to use the internet or a particular website in assisting you to plan your wedding, what features would you personally find useful? Are there any particular topics / subject areas that you would like / would have liked more guidance on than you were able to find elsewhere?

I'm just trying to guage the ideas of as many people as possible. So any thoughts on the above would be greatly appreciated x x x

I went to www.theknot.com and it basically really helped me sort out all the things I should do - in what order - how much it might cost ; setting a budget ; the rehearsal dinner ; gifts for the wedding party ; everything ; even proper rules/manners ; bridal shower stuff for the maid of honor etc.

The other stuff? I bought a wedding planning notebook and used that to save receipts and keep stuff in order ; details ; etc.

*shakes head*

Bridezilla is my new favorite mindless entertainment.

You mean you would actually WANT to deal with these people?

Damn, you must have the patience of a saint. :verygood:
