Ok well i just finished anothe cycle of handing out resume's and getting the very familiar thank you, you suck letter. Can anyone give me advice on how to land a freakin job cause this is getting frustrating as hell:mad:

Right now I'm getting my MBA and have been trying to get internships or entry level positions and still can't get shit......just too many cases of the man holding me down:mad:

A good letter and resume are important. I have been told mine are excellant. I could shoot you a copy of the letter cause it's easily made to fit any job........

Monster.com Also, when applying, contact the shit out of them so they KNOW you are interested in the job. My Human Resources instructor stated there were 10 legitimate contacts while applying. Thank them for opportunities to interview, the interview, all kind of shit that wouold pis me off if I was hiring. Good Luck.

If you are using on-line job boards, I would NOT use the submit button. Send a PAPER COPY to the company - make sure all grammar and spelling are checked and double checked, call before you send it to find out WHO it needs to go to, and SPELL IT CORRECTLY!!!

Then follow up with a phone call to confirm the individual received it......ask for a time frame as to when interviews will be set up, etc. ASK if you can call back to check on the progress, and WHEN you should call back. That way they won't get annoyed when you do call back, because they have given you the ok...it keeps YOU in the front of their mind.

DON'T sound desperate, DON'T be demanding about interviews, etc I FREAKING HATE THAT - Don't act like the individual is obliged to interview you simply because you're submitted a resume..

NOW....you have to analyze WHERE things are going wrong. If you are not getting to the interview stage - you resume might need some tweaking. If you are getting to the interview stage, then your interview skills might need some help.

There are SOOOOO many resources you can turn to to get help with either your resume or interview skills; books, web sites, etc etc. Make sure you are genuinely putting effort into the whole process. You need to be proactive!!!! There is just too much competition out there!!!

If you would like some help tweaking your resume, I would be willing to take a gander to see if something obvious jumps out at me...

GOOD LUCK! :)

P.S. Employers in the US are required to show the government how they are attempting to create diversity in their workplace. So, in many cases being a minority gives you an advantage :)

Yep, send a paper copy if at all possible. Your resume ONLY gets you an interview. The interview(s) get you the job so know how to dress and what to say.

1. Smile and dial.
2. Don't go through HR if you can help it. Contact the decision makers directly.
3. Follow up until you hear one of two words ... "yes" or "no."
4. Network, netwrok, network. *I promised myself I wouldn't use the "n-word" and I used it three times. Damn.*
5. When something stops working, do something else.
