Pink Floyd

Ok, I am starting a Pink Floyd thread because the band was great and does not get discussed enough on here.

So.... discuss!

Name your favorite Floyd song or anything else about the band.

My fav. songs are Comfortably Numb, Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Time

Love Pink Floyd... went to two of their concerts. Awesome show! Favorite songs off the top of my head:

On the Turning Away, Run Like Hell, Vera, Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, Pigs on a Wing, One of These Days, Echoes.

Saw them at Texas Stadium many years ago.
A foggy, misty, kool night walking around with a bottle of Jack and a fatboy.

My fav Floyd tunes are Comfortably numb and Brain Damage/ Eclipse.

But that night,
when those Alarm Clocks rang out,
and that huge grid of green lasers rotated out of the hole in the dome ceiling into the night sky...

well, I sit down,
grabbed the seat of my chair ,
and hung on for the ride, it was Time.

Been to a lot of shows in my days, SRV w/ BBKing, The Stones, PJam, Aerosmith in the 80’s, Eagles, ZZTop, etc etc etc. If they ranked 1-10 Then Floyd was a 1000, There is not comparison, no second best, the best concert ever !

I listened straight through both "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Another brick in the wall" without getting up from my computer chair once.

I read the lyrics for each song in order as it was playing on my headphones. and since I had taken the normal dosage of Mescaline, it was FUCKING amazing.

'Twas like a movie, I envisioned EVERY one of the phrases, that was a good night.

I'm only 17 and appreciate their music. They are definately one of the greatest bands ever. Comfortably Numb is definately my fav. song and Dark Side of the Moon is my fav. album. Unfortunately never been to a show but my uncle told me that rock, unlike anything else. I do have the Another Brick in the Wall movie tho.

Best Album: Wish You Were Here
Best Song: Echoes

Interesting fact about me: Outside of a few songs on The Wall, I really could care less about it. Comfortably Numb contains one of the greatest solos in music though. I actually heard that Gilmour got extremely bored playing it while recording.

i think im comfortably numb

i have perfectly mimicked his guitar tone... it's a close second behind brian may of queen for all time best.

I thought you were a Les Paul man, it would be difficult to mimic Gilmour with a Les Paul, since he played Strats and Telecasters mostly.

I enjoy the old psychedelic-era Pink Floyd, up through and including "Meddle". But I could go for the rest of my life without hearing "Dark Side" again and it would be too soon. Then I enjoy "Wish You Were Here" and "Animals", but absolutely hate, loathe, and detest every single thing about "The Wall". I have not ever heard any of their post-Wall, post-Waters material.

I just like it cuz it tells it the way it is, I don't even think it's good music, the wall and moon, but it really tells it the way I see it. The world I mean.

hands down, the greatest talent to ever step on a stage and jam out.

i'm actually kind of shocked about how many people are into there mainstream music. i expected more people to be talking about albums like The Final Cut, or Animals. IMO Animals is there most underated album.

that album is awesome from front to back.

if any of you ever get the opportunity to see Roger Waters on one of his solo tours. I highly recommend seeing him. He was great. more lyricaly than as a show. he plays alot of the floyds music that pink floyd dosent play anymore. songs such as pigs, sheep, have a cigar, mother, happiest days of our lives. etc. of course he does there mainstay also, time, comfortbly numb, wish you were here.
any way great show he has a great voice, real erie. awesome.
