Frankly I think a lot of it went downhill after Zane won.
I mean, yeah, sure, the HUGE freeaky look has its merits, but to me, it does not look healthy.
Look at Zane's contest winning photos sometimes. The guy was like a sculpture.
The tough part of all of this, is that if you do NOT judge by sheer "measurable" things such as size, body fat, shreeding, symmetry, etc (not that they are measureable per se, but they are relatively easy to compare and be objective about it), if you DON'T judge by such things alone, then you get more and more into "subjective" measurements, .... people's "opinions" as to what look good and what does not.
This very issue has totally messed up womens competitions for a while (although they have goten a handle on it lately).
10 years ago or so, you would one year, the biggest, freakiest chick would win ....... then the next year, the most "asthetically pleasing" chick would win ...... back and forth like this..... its better now, but for a while it was messed up.
