I know it'll vary from state to state, but I can't find anything by searching online.....

How many pushups, situps, etc are required?

Just tried some pushups too......stopped at 20 regular.....

Whoo Hoo!

thats good ,im in a college police program and none of the girls can do over 5 regular pushups, they get modified anyways but they are really weak, most cant do the restraint machine either

there should be a physical test to get into the program so you dont waste your time, but they take your money first then weed the weak ones out

hahahaahahhaahha

the real irony is that those females will get jobs faster than their male couterparts.

I agree and it pisses me off,2 in my class of 50 can run the 6.5 on the shuttle, I doubt they will pass the prep test this semester so they will get the boot from school and cry and whine, ive offered to help alot of people get on a training routine but they all go out and drink and party even between classes as opposed to lifting so I hope they fail

WAY back when i took police foundations (Algonquin college, man that was a lnog time ago), the majority of the people in it were fresh out of highschool and rarely took the couse very seriously. Those of us that actually wanted to do something with it suffered because the rest of the class was constantly bringing us down. PT was a joke, class discussion usually revovlved around some pointlesss issues that very few in the class actually understood.

Good program if you use it to network. Get on a coop OJT term with a force, make some good cop friends, and it will work for you.

Didn't really work for me. I ended up in the army. Probably worked out better for me in the end.

Only now, almost ten years later, am i actually trying to become a police officer.

nothing has changed bro, still full of assholes who disrupt the class and go on about stupid shit, pt is still a joke and I honestly see 2-3 other people who have what it takes to be a cop, both physically and mentally.

good luck with becoming a cop bro,are you going local or provincial

trying to convince the RCMP to give me a job...it's a fucking process from hell. I've been in the system since June and there still isn't any word. Takes a long time.

Coming to Ontario in February to do my testing for Ontario forces and going to Vancouver for testing in March.

I'll go with whomever takes me first. The RCMP would be my first pick though.

opp is a good organization,Im looking at close protection as a serious career option also.

Ive heard the rcmp take forever to get in,thats what took my interest away

bodyguard eh? interesting career choice. What made you think of this? You gonna start your own business?

They now have their own guild and union.

I worked for a guy who did this for politicians and it seems really interesting,I researched alot on it and it looks good, but first I would work for someone then maybe venture off on my own

RCMp takes forever in some provinces, especially those under contracts cause folks there can work either with us or for a municipal PD. In Quebec it's far different. Most guys will go for the Montreal PD or the SQ (no one here really wanna go in the Force) and since the RCMP needs bilingual (or even more) so badly, as long as you dont look weird and seem to have something both ears, you'll get hired. Quebecers seem to associate RCMP with the army. Kindda true in a way.

As for close protection, they dont give that to anyone. They'll ask for at least, a good 6-7 years of service, even more. Most PDs will just put you as a patrol officer, unless you work for a Federal agency.

I mean close protection not on any force, there are a few agencies in ontario that arent a police force and work with politicians etc, but it looks like a hard field to get into so I will probably end up being a cop then trying my hand at it later.

anybody have any info on csis?

My brother is going to be a state trooper. He said in life there are two things he fears. 1. Someone breaking into the house. 2. State troopers. He moved out of the neighborhood, and is now becoming one of them.

He said the written test was a joke, and the PFT they have is atrocious as well. I'll ask him the details when I talk to him again.

Private close protection agents cannot conceal carry under the actual Firearms law. And it'S been this way since Bill C-68 in 1978. They're basically, overpriced rent-a-cops.
