do you, or anyone you know, work in the fitness industry full time? I am seriously considering getting certified as a Pt and a as a Specialist in Performance Nutrition. I no i won't make millions, but i am sure I would love doing it.

I'm just looking for thoughts and opinions.

Weight Loss and Fitness is one of the biggest Industries on America! You very well could make plenty of money.

where does a person go to get cetified to PT. i would to PT during the summer. i know i have the knowledge but i just dont have the certs. plus, do i have to let the gym know i am PT'ing a client?

The gym will make your clients buy memberships, seems obvious but if the client isn't already a member it adds to their cost. If you're bringing new members to the gym you might get that reduced. Some trainers have their own facilities. The gym might make you give them a cut of your fees.

my brother had a pt job during the summer making $17 an hour. He worked FOR the gym, so he didn't have to get his own clients.

I used to know someone that was a freelance trainer did not work for one specfic gym I think that would be your best bet for making some good coin. He once explained to me how it all worked but I forget the details was a few years ago, but I do remember him saying ISSA is one of the best certifications to get. I wish there were trainers out there that were not so full of shit. I hear and see some of them with there clients barely paying attention to there form etc. If I ever decided to get a trainer I would want them to be a form Nazi make sure I am doing every thing exactly right. It would also be great to have someone to spot me when I needed it sometimes I avoid lifting free weights to heavey cause I don't have a spot.
Good Luck

ive thought about dropping my whole business major and starting to focus on something in the fitness industy because its such a huge part of my life...

Was your friend Canadian?

You may want to ask Citruscide. He is ISSA certified. He used to train. I don't know if he does it anymore though. Shit he might not even post here anymore.
