Wow yesterday was one hell of a day at Elite, and a number of other boards. I followed this unfolding drama the entire day, watching it unfold like a salivating dog. This is what I have percieved in my own twisted little mind.

1. George Spellwin and EF/SAM aka KRONK had a falling out.

2. This matter should have been resolved by those two and others involved behind closed doors'

3. I think that many of us were played as fools, myself included by a carefully orchastrated mutiny on the open board.

4. I believe that was wrong.

5. It was hinted, that elitemail had been compermised by George and that as board members we were not safe. I haven't seen any evidence of that, nor do I expect to.

6. I have yet to see any credible evidence raised against George that would affect my personal safety.


My feelings on this entire subject is that I personally enjoyed this board when it was under the direct supervison of George Spellwin, in the good old days before EF/Sam. When George himself would often frequent threads. This board may have taken two steps backward yesterday, but can take a leap forward in the next few weeks.

Big Andy and genarr as mods (both post whores) is a postive step forward IMO

Good luck George, I'm looking forward to a new and improved Elite, one that reflects the bygone days that many of us vets fondly remember.

i completely agree....
especially regarding #3 and #4. alot of unneccessary panic was created and those mods who left only added fuel to that fire with their comments. that being said....i still respect them but they made this a much much bigger deal than it was.

this is a nice summary and well said. It does appear that this was an orchestated attempt to worry the users of this board, and I don't appreciate that.

All the issues I had questions about have been addressed.

The safety issue was, of course, number one, and that has become a NON-issue as far as I am concerned. I am guilty of panicking like a bitch at the prospect of my personal information being leaked in reference to this whole thing, but no evidence of this has surfaced, no unusual activity on my personal server or company servers... biz as usual to the best of my knowledge.

A personal/business problem elevated to widespread conspiracy by some well placed inuendo and overreaction. Back to on topic life, I hope.

When you get in a fight with your girl or man you always go for something that cuts deep...some deep secret they told you in the past or the ex etc...what do we fear most here??? the law!!! well getting small also! LOL EVERY TIME THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM COMES UP AND SOME PERSON WANTS TO ROCK THE BOAT SECURITY AND THE LAW WILL BE THE FIRST RUMOR!!!! It will happen again next time step away from the key board and just read and let it unfold...peace and thank god for EF! But it would have been nice to have a steel cage match!!!! PLEX1500

Good post Liftsiron. When shit hit the fan yesterday, I thought the best thing was to take both versions. I tried to e-mail the mods (those who left) with no success, except for two of them who just told me to "stay safe". Kindda reminds one of former boss. You'd ask him "whats the color of the sky", and he'd answer, "same as the sea". So is the sky blue ? "well same as the sea".....

On the other hand, George asked me to call him at the office and him and BigRickRock offered me a full explanation. So basically i'm left with one version and under the moral obligation to believe George, unless someone brings up some real evidence, not just rumors.

It is a sad day, but there's a lot to learn from that.

I have to say I agree with liftsiron's comments on this. I, too, am guilty in thinking there was a Clear & Present Danger. I felt the underlying message from all the mods who were jumping ship was: "our security has been breached and we are not safe"...

Upon further review I felt as though our security was not the issue here. I have to admit when Ranger and C-Ditty bailed I felt there must be real issues with security. I like this board and I am staying. I like the way George maintains a non-flame environment and open discussion regarding sources etc...is prohibited.

For those of you who leave and have left: May you live long and prosper. To those of you who stay, as Manny said, there is a lesson to be learned here. Perhaps more than one.

In closing, I want to say Liftsiron would make a quality Mod and should be considered.

Well said liftsiron, by the way I nominated you for mod on george's thread yesterday. In any event, with the changing of the guard, and some of EF Sam's silly rules gone, and BigAndy as a mod I think the quality of the board will return to what it was in the past. Any other guys going to be made modes? I would like to see you made a mod. Some people suggested me, but I would have to think about it for awhile if I were selected.

As far as the safety issue, I think that is a common response from enchanced atheletes. We tend to be a paranoid lot, and tend to react very quickly to anything that might hint at being harassed by the government for our lifestyle. However, I see no evidence that it was anything other than paranoia.

I am always bitching about the non related crap that is left up in this forum, which in turn pushes the good posts right off the page. Well yesterdays drama was the biggest non related waste of board space that I've ever seen here. Seems things are settling back down to normal which is great. As for the cause of the problem, at this point I dont give a rats ass. The way it was done yesterday was done in such a way to cause as much drama and speculation as possible, which I'm not real happy with. If there was a legit beef with the board, it should have been posted un instead of the inuendo, so we knew what was going on. The way it was carried out however, left me with no sympathy for whatever was going on

As long as the invasion of privacy issues were only a hoax, I see no reason to stop posting here. I sincerely hope that the 'mutineers' honestly felt there were saftey issues, and that this all wasn't just an elaborate scheme to drum up biz for another board. At any rate, since nobody offered any concrete proof of any kind, I'm chosing to forget yesterday's hysteria.

the stuff about Elite Mail being compromised is BOGUS. they (EF staff) couldn't hack into your personal EF mail account if they wanted to. the system doesn't even use their servers, and even if it did it is still encrypted. just don't have your passphrase be the same as your EF login password and you have nothing to worry about.

Occam's Razor; the simplest theory is usually the correct one.

George's story seems more credible.

Overall, it didn't turn out all that bad, except IMO for Ranger leaving. I hope he reconsiders

Between us, and the current mods like Huck, Fonz, Andy13, Zyg, Macro...we can make this place great again.
