Permanent Results From Accutane?

Any one ever run the long dosing schedule of accutane (5 months), and get permanent results? I have heard stories, but they were not clear-cut. I want to do this shit one time, and not have to worry about acne anymore. I want the permanent effects I hear are possible with this prolonged treatment. Please only respond if you have yourself undergone such a long course of treatment or actually knew someone who did. What6 type of dose did they run throughout? Was the acne really gone for good after a considerable amount of time had elapsed since they finished treatment?

The literature says that there is something like 85% cure rate long term for those on twice the normal dose! A dose of 80mg as opposed to 20 or 40 has been shown to be the only cure for acne. This is contrary to what is usually perscribed by a doctor and you can get more info on this subject as well as many others by checking out www.drmirkin.com his mp3 radio shows talk about the drug for long term use all the time. Just a side note, although you can get this drug on the net, you are better getting it from the family doctor, it need not be a dermatologist (either way blood work is recommended).

I know of several friends that took accutane. They broke out like a mother fucker, the dryness was severe, and yet, the acne returned upon discontinuing it.

I went through six months of treatment (this is considered a lifetime treatment) and went up as high as 40mg a day ... Let me tell you this ...be prepared for hell!!! This shit hurts and somewhere in month 3 or 4 you want to die from the pain ... You're whole body gets DRIED to the fullest ... lips cracking and cold sores ... all for one thing ... ACNE GONE.

I have been off for about 4 and a half years now and my acne is coming back slowly but not nearly the degree before... ( I am very prone to acne ) but for the purpose of your question ... if you can hang in for the long haul (5-6 months) consider the acne gone for a long , long time....

If you only have acne in a specific location like back or shoulders you can also look into Isotrex...topical accutane. It has the same active agent and has the same long-term effects on the treated area. Minimum treatment is 2-3 months but 4-6 is better. Youll get a decent rash on the treated area for most of the treatment period. You can order 30g tubes for about $20 if you know the right place. 2 tubes lasted me about 2 months covering my chest and shoulders 2x per day.

I used Accutane once for 3-4 months at 40mg/day and again a year later at 20mg/day of 1 month. I took it because I had terrible acne on my back. After the second time, which was 3 years ago, I never had any acne again. It's gone for good.

my friend ran the maxium amount of cycles you can(4) and he still has minor breakouts,not to bad just a zit here or there,but it took four 6 month cycles to get there,its different for everyone thats for sure,I should be on it but he went through hell,he could hardly get out of bed some days and for us lifters its just not a option atleast for me

I ran a treatment under the care of my dermatologist for 7 months starting at a dose of 40mg daily, and eventually finishing at 80mg daily for the last few months (all way before I even started with anabolics). This was about 5 years ago, and I have yet to see an outbreak anywhere on my body. From what I can see, the effects of accutane can last a very long time, and is worth going through treatment if your acne is as severe as mine was.

Accutane is MADE for long term (months) usage in a way that will stop all Acne. Period. These people that use it like some kind of orall Clearasil are WRONG. Most Docs that prescribe it (non-Dermatologists) at low doses are WRONG.

The guys above who are talking about the longer lengths like 4,5,6, 7 months are correct. THAT is the way to take it. When you do that, your acne for the most part is GONE. Period.


It is not easy though and can be painful and diffficult. For many, its worth it.


Accutane is meant for a run of 4-7 months at a good dose, and for permanent (or semi-permanent) cessation of Acne.

Period.

I am thsi passionate about this because these people that have acne NOW, and think "oh, uh, I need something to clear this up in 2 weeks for a big date..." (or whatever) have entirely the wrong mindset about Accutane.

So yeah, if you are up for it, it WILL get rid of it for good. Or .. almost. Some guy have it come back a bit after a few years but far far far less.

I took it, and was cleared for like 6 months and then I did a cycel and it came back, but not as bad.Still have light acne, not enough for the tane. I was 22 at the time, and I think if I did it now at 24 or 25, it would be gone for good.

How does accutane effect the liver? Is it the same as 17aa AAS? Would a detox like Tylers be beneficial when using it?

Suicide would be permanent.

Resulting suicides has been linked to accutane. Currently being discussed on capitol hill. Here is a link from earlier this year to an older House of Reps topic about it. It is currently being discussed in the senate as well.

If you a want less pain from Accutane, start taking it when it's warm weather and humid. It's a lot easier on the skin, I took mine in Spring and Summer and I had no problem with my skin drying. For first 2 months I had dry nose and lips, but that went away.

I had the worst acne out there. It was horrible. I took Accutane at 80mgED for 4 months. Cleared right up perfectly for 2 years. It came back now, so I'm back on for 50mgED for 2 months. We'll see if it works

how old are you AMGETR? Has anyone experimented with pyramid dosing to prevent an initial breakout? Like starting at 5mg and working you way up to 80mg over 3-4 weeks. The reason I ask is I don't have bad acne on my face but I have painful cystic acne on my back. I also get a cyst ever few weeks on my jaw line or forehead. I don't mind having it get worse on my back but I do not want it worse on my face. I have used virtually all other acne meds without any luck. I even used accutane once about 7 years ago when i was 14, but acne came back.

I think there aren't any permanent side effects.

I used accutane when I was 16, about 20 years ago. I had really really bad cystic acne. Completely fixed it. Didn't have any acne issues for a long time. I recently started using aas and have had acne issues. It's not as serious as when I was young but it is cystic acne. If I manage my diet well, the acne issues are better.

Accutane fixes things for a long time but it is not permanent.
