Check these;

Karuma - On Y Va (Silvio Ecomo remix) Deep, progressive, tribal, big bassline

Christian West - Eterna (dub) Banging, techy

The Arc - Echobeach (Yekuana Remix) Progressive, funky

Rump shakin tracks

Karuma and The Arc are both off Widescreen Volume 1 - Platypus Records

Christian West is off Fluid - Fluid Recordings.

Both are compilation CD's but each track has also been released separately.

Look for the remix's i listed. the originals are ok, but the remix's above absolutely kick.

Didn't know you were a groover Cas. You do have a certain funky get get down about you though.

LOL. I don't even dance, I just like to listen to it and sit there of lift weights. How's that for fucked up? But I love a lot of...well...whatever it's called. I know there are a lot of different categories. I'm pretty ignorant about the stuff. It puts me in a neat trance, or it gets my mind rolling around, or it just feels good. Especially when I'm a bit amped up. The stuff doesn't get a lot of airplay on the stations around here, so it's hard to know what's good and what's not. A friend burned a CD for me. I think it was called "Live at Ibiza". I lost it, but I need to get ahold of another copy. There was some neat stuff on it. Like I said, I don't know shit about any of the artists or anything. LOL. Hell, I remember as a little kid I'd play the "Axel F" theme from "Beverly Hills Cop" over and over.

Get more and more into it and you'll be taken to a whole new level Cas, i mean that. Dance music/techno/house/trance call it what you like, but nothing puts me into a 'trance' as you say like it does.

Compilation stuff like the Ibiza CD you mentioned is the best way to get into it. Soon you will find what style of dance music you like best be it trance, house, techno, hard house etc. Forget about the radio stations, they just play tired old rock.

Are you close to or do you live in a decent size city. There must be a music shop that specialises in alternative or maybe even dance music close by.

We have several music shops around that have whole sections dedicated to it. At $15-$18 a CD though, I like to be sure of what I'm buying. Like you said, compilation CD's and soundtracks give some direction. I had one titled "Beaucoup Fish" too (is that the album or group name?). I guess they had at least one song on the "Trainspotting" soundtrack. I sold it during a broke period last winter for gas money though. :)

Beaucoup Fish is an album by Underworld who are a very well known techno group. You're right they had the track 'Born slippy' on the trainspotting CD.

Look for big name DJ's and labels to start with ie

Sasha
John Digweed
Danny Tenaglia
Dave Seaman
Nick Warren
Tiesto
Paul Oakenfold

Labels and compilations such as;

Global Underground
Gatecrasher
NuBreed
Transport
Cream

All of the above are well known and a good place to start. Most alternative and dance music shops will definately have them. Most shops also let you listen to CD's before you buy them.

Cool. Thanks for that list. I'm going to print it off, actually.

"Underworld"...I remember now.

I have Oakenfold's "Another World" (burned by the same friend that did "Ibiza"). Some of it is A-OK. :D

Thanks again for the list. :spin::wavey:

Me?? I don't know what the speed is, but I think it's pretty fast. I post a shitload on here and it usually doesn't have trouble keeping up or downloading film clips.
