People Make Me Sick

My daughter and I went to a local waterpark.
It happened to be the day the Utah Council for the Blind had their annual trip to the park.

As I'm returning the life vest I rented for my daughter a blind lady accidently runs into the huge crowd of people (and me) trying to find one of the waterslides.

This lady had managed to walk damn near the entire length of the park trying to find it, running into people and what-not and not a single person helped her. (and there was a council of peers and helpers all over the place)

Needless to say, my daughter and I spent the rest of the afternoon with her and her son (who was my daughter's age).

Fucking people make me sick. If you see someone who needs help, take a break from your personal space and help them out.

A similar thing happened to me and my wife (then girlfriend) in a mall a few weeks ago.

We were sitting on a bench eating pretzel. We noticed a blind man making his way along a wall. A large crowd swept by him and seperated him from the wall by about 25 feet. He was stuck in a large open area with many people buzzing past. He kept asking people for help and nobody even flinched. Not one person.

Without a word my girl got up, headed his way, and led him to the store where he bought flowers for his wife.

Remind me to buy some flowers for my wife.

Man, that is horrible. Bless you for doing the right thing, Code. Be happy, though, as your daughter has learned something that will set her far apart from regular people for the rest of her life.

You're a good man.

People make me sick also. Sometimes I wish I could just blast people away at will with a shotgun to take out all my aggressions, and then have everybody I killed come back to life the next day as if nothing ever happened.

By the way, that was a cool thing doing that for those guys. Especially when you didnt have to.

It nice to hear that you did the right thing. Great example for your daughter too, since so many kids today would never do help anyone. Most probably would have been laughing (how sad). Keep up the great parenting.

good job man lead by example is what I say.I see crap like this but only its idiot kids at the bus terminal making fun of the handicapped people. they get a good word or two from me about manners and respect

with every day that passes i hate people more and more, hearing this has slowed that process by a few days, good job =)

i would never expect to see a blind woman at a waterpark... but in this case, you definitely deserve a pat on the back.

this is going to sound bad, but it wasnt my intention.

i was at some golf tournament a few years ago, and some old lady walks up to me asking there the club house is. i point and tell her, 'it's that way.' she just stands there, looking right through me, and asks where it is again. pointing again, 'miss, it's over that way'. finally she goes (in a rather rude manner), 'god! i'm blind! will you please tell me which direction it is for the third time?!'

needless to say, i gave her the wrong directions.

Just to clear this up:

I'm still an asshole.
I'm still a contrarian.
I still think 90% of the world is retarded.
I still think Darwinism isn't fast enough.
I still hate all of you, except Happy.

I just happen to care about people for whom, I either know personally or are within close proximity of me *and* either exhibit an obvious need for help or they are an extremely good looking woman.

Last year I was walking along and a blind guy with a dog had gotten turned around and wasn't sure what direction he needed to go to get to a certain street. So I pointed him in the right way :)

THAT BLIND LADY THAT YOU HELPED IS A PERSON. WHY WOULD YOU HELP HER IF YOU HATE PEOPLE???

This is a result of self-centered adults (sometimes also kids) raising self-centered tyrant children! Its rare to find people that care about others in today's society. Everything is "ME, ME, ME!", sadly.

You are a kind person for helping others. I'm glad to see there are still kind, caring, helpful people out there such as yourself. You set a great example for your daughter.

ok code after reading your last post did this blind lady happen to be good looking and did you help her through the park the rest of the day gawking at her anatomy knowing you wouldn't get caught? Hmmm?

Dude. Are you my twin brother?!

At the very least, "Offer" to help..
Some want to do it on their own no matter how hard.

Yea, I see people all the time looking on as someone is struggling
with something.
Even I tend to hesitate to stop and help people on the side of the road these days unless its in a busy area of town.
I can't remember the last time I picked up a hitchhiker.
Or even when I've seen one lately...

Ask, and if they say No thanks, don't push it.
