Peanutbutter Insulin trick for real?

goahead

New member
Sometime ago on another board a guy said that scientific research showed that holding one tablespoon of peanutbutter in ones mouth for a minute (after your workout) would raise insulin levels. You would then spit out the peanutbutter and instead throw in your carb/protein shake to ride the insuline wave (instead of the fat)

IS THIS FOR REAL????

If so I vote for Jimmy Carter to become president of the NBBF:D

You spike the insulin with carbs (simple ones are best, eg, sugar, glucose fructose etc)

anything with "ose" at the end means simple carb.
You could spike the insulin by having a pbj sandwich , but unless you're bulking dont that do that.
instead drink apple juice + whey protein post workout or something.

if you really want a yes or no answer, im not sure, but spit out peanut butter? thats gotta be hard....
both because it's sticky and the tempation to swallow would be overwhelming...

:D

that's stupid. the reason you would hold it for a minute in your mouth would be to break it down with saliva... ever notice when you chew bread for a while it becomes very sweet? that's because the saliva breaks the bonds in the starch molocules and you taste the glucose. why not just use some maltodextrin or dextrose post workout?

It was stated that insuline release was trigged by the expectation of Fatty acids not the glycemic substances

ever noticed that combinations of sugars and fats give way more sugar high feeling than fat or carbs alone?

i.e:

- fries
- chocolate

as opposed to
- potatoes
- french cheese
