Paxil & Ambien

I have found a few posts in this forum relating to Paxil & Ambien. Some suggest that Paxil negatively effects testosterone by changing prolactin (sp?) relaease. I would like more information about this.

How do Paxil & Ambien (prescription medications) effect muscle gains, fat loss, and testosterone levels?

I can think of two ways in which Ambien may improve gains:

1. The body does not build muscle in the gym. It builds muscle when you are resting. Improved/Increased sleep gives the body more of a chance to build muscle.

2. Most of GH secretion occurs during sleep. It may increase GH by enhansing/extending sleep.

It could possibly have negative effects on metabolism and increase fat storage during the night. It might also make morning workouts less productive.

The above are all just guesses. I do not know if any are true.

Humm I take Elavil. (a genric of it) to sleep. It is comsidered an anti-depressant, however it just keeps me from thinking for 3 hours while lying in bed.

Anyone know about Elavil?

Elavil (Amitriptyline) is an old school tricyclic anti-depressant. In fact it was one of the first tricyclics 'invented.' Has a lot of potential side effects and with the newer drugs around, it doesn't really make sense it take it. If you're taking it because of insurance purposes, trazodone may (or may not) be a better alternative. Peace.

Paxil

I've researched Paxil pretty extensively and haven’t found any potential negative side affects to muscle growth.

anyone currently in a cycle and on paxil?

I am concerned that one of paxil's known side effects is reducing sexual drive. This makes me fear that it also reducing testosterone or related muscle-building hormones.
