OK, long post up ahead so go away from this thread if you don't wanna hear me rant a bit...
I dunno how many of you here live in big cities with parking problems but in Tel Aviv, if you don't have your own personal parking spot, which most people don't have including myself, I can tell you, it is a bitch.
Anyway, from like 7PM it starts, all parking is taken, I usually get home between 11pm-2am so sometimes I can drive around for anywhere between 10 minutes to an hour looking for parking, even though it does happen that I find a spot immediately sometimes and most times I bag a spot within 15 minutes tops..
Usually if I am driving around for over 20 mins it escalates into an hour for some reason.. The worst thing is on those times when it does take a long time, when I do finally find an empty spot only to see someone standing in the spot saying that he is saving it for a friend, it is like a unofficial rule that that is ok...
The other night after driving around for an hour I saw a parked car's lights go on, so I stopped by the car and waited like 20 seconds for the guy to drive out of the parking space, I am about to back into it when this dude on the street comes up to me and tells me that the parking is taken... I was so pissed off at this point I am like, "waddya mean? - there is no car here"
He pointed down the street to a car parked on the pavement and said, "my girlfriends in that car and she is parking here."
I go, "listen man I have been driving around for an hour, you guys even live in this area? Your car got a sticker for this zone even?"
"Yep"
I was so pissed, "Ok, I wanna see the sticker on the car, if it is not marked for this zone, I am parking here"
So he raises his arms and says "GO"
He wanted to fight over it...
Fuck, no way I was getting into a fight over this, and in Israel, half the guys have been in fighter units in the army so if they show they want a fight they mean it, seriously, no one ever threatens you in Israel, when they do, it is serious.
I just left. Even if I was sure I could beat him, no way I am going to fight over this, but it sucked, took me another 15 minutes to find a spot...
Gotta get a new flat with a parking spot!
