Pain in biceps when benching

FFQuads

New member
In the past few months I've really been working in my bench. I seem to be getting close to a sticking spot and am having some pain in my biceps when I lift heavy. Any ideas on what's going on or how to stop it? I feel like I'm fighting the weight on the way down and straining the muscle.

It sounds like some biceps tendonitis. It's very common after a cycle or two of heavy lifting. Light hammer curls seem to help, and of course backing off a little/resting are a cure-all for it.

Sounds like I might need some Deca! hehehe....

Might be tendonitis. When I flex my biceps sometimes they are popping. It feels like it's the muscle but sounds just like a joint?? Strange...:worried:

Deca, it's what's for dinner.

Is it in the bicep near the elbow? and on both arms? If it is both arms it is more than likely over-use stuff.

The bicep near the elbow and yes, both arms. So should I start doing drop sets and super set them with chin kicks and really blast them with the cable cross-overs?

Welcome to the club.
First thing: Stop benching, or doing whatever makes you arm hurt.
2nd: Ice

and Stretch
I suffered from some bad-ass bicep tendonitis, the "i-bench-80lbs" kind.
BiggT and Tweakle and the gang really helped out

Kool! Thanks! I was going to change my workout at the end of the year anyway so I'll be dropping the bench down for a while then.

When I was in your position, I switched benching to one of those Hammer Strength Chest Press machines
It allowed me to work "heavy" with no pain.
Try it out man
Remember, do not go against your body's signals man...
Pain = something's wrong

Is it the same Bicep you torn a year or 2 ago?

Don't be a retard and try to push throught something - stop till it's better (I bet 2 weeks will do it) or you might be out for 90 days or something like that - ask Blut Wump

It's both. I don't think it's got anything to do with that injury.
