Tuc - look at the line under mr. db's name in the 2 pictures. in Firefox, that line for non-plats is running through their user title a lot of the time. some of the graphics in firefox aren't as bright or as vivid as they are in IE either.

i don't like tabbed browsing for some reason, never have, never will, so i've disabled it in Firefox. the elimination of popups kicks ass though..

pffft. everybody go plat == problem solved.

I use regular mozilla instead of firefox. Our development team at work has also added features to it. It's awesome b/c if you know how to program, it's opensource so you can add needed features that you may need.

I like tabbed browsing a lot, which is why I'm forcing myself to give Firefox a fair trial. It's clunky though, probably because it's written in Java instead of being a native Windows app.

IE6 has an effective popup blocker now, if you're up to the SP2 revision level.

For Opera fans -- will it run Java and Javascript? Can you use it to read Cyber-Rights/Hushmail/Elite mail?

It's writtin in C/C++ and javascript

Isn't Firefox identical to the browser in regular Mozilla? I only chose it because I do NOT need another mail/news client.

How do you bypass the popup blocker in Firefox? With most popup blockers, including the Google toolbar or the popup blocker built into IE6 SP2, you hold down the CTRL key to allow the new window. Doesn't work in Firefox. Frustrating when a PM comes in.

opera is what you need... still lets the text windows for pm's through and popups get their own smaller window but it doesnt show

Does Opera run Java and Javascript? Can it load the Hush encryption engine?

I switched to firefox yesterday, I have not yet seen a popup. IE with EMS Free Surfer and Google toolbar still yielded popups. Plus I love the customizability/tabbed browsing that's offered by Firefox...and yeah, Elite looks hideous using firefox as opposed to IE. This quick reply box seems to be outlined, non-plats have a strikeout in their titles etc.

IE6 SP2 is at least equally effective at blocking pop ups as Firefox.

They are not identical. Firefox is built more sleek and efficent than reg mozilla, to be "supposedly" faster. backend code is different.
