Oxygen magazine - gets the thumbs down!!!

on my way upstate this morning I grabbed Oxygen magazine before getting on the train..

What a disappointment....

The whole thing was an advertisement for hydroxycut...rreal ads and then stories by the magazine on how each woman lost 28 lbs in a month or something...

repeatedly it mentioned how to "tone" areas and "tighten the tummy"

WTF!!!

will not buy that again..waaaaste of money

I sometimes look it over in the bookstore...
Takes me about 5 minutes if I skip the Hydroxicut ads.

Sorry you wasted your money :(

That's what I thought......I use to buy it all of the time and now it is loaded with common sense stuff not to mention all of the ads of Hydroxycut cuts (Marla Duncan galore)!!

The only part I really like is the Contest Results section - love the ripped physiques. Some of the workout articles are good when they use fresh-from-contest-ripped fitness women as models. Got to have my visual motivation. :p

Other than Oxygen and M&F Hers, which is even more mainstream w/ an even stronger toning/non-bulking bent, there really isn't anything else for women. Is there???

Picture me on the weekend,
I took my kids out to an indoor playground and while they're playing, I'm sitting on a chair in the corner reading Muscular Development ... and there's all these soft-core porn pics of topless women and cartoons of couples getting it on ...
But some of the articles are interesting ... so I just had to keep the magazine as hidden as possible and make sure no one was sitting next to me...
I felt so dirty ....

I happen to like Oxygen....

One of the main reason's is that they showcase us older ladies in their "Future of Fitness" section. I've noticed a trend to the ladies over 30 being show-cased and I love it- keeps me motivated!!

I've collected every issue for over two years now. They seem to touch on every concern we ladies may have. Gaining mass, strength, weight loss, maintaining. I also happen to enjoy finding some new idea's if I can.

I was flippin thru Cosmo the other day at the store..GUESS WHAT I SAW? Good Ole Marla in an Hydroxycut add. My first thought.."Smart move....All the idiots will be flocking to buy this cuz they'll think the magic pill will give them her results".

I'm sorry to say..I was NOT impressed with Marla when I met her last year. Maybe she was having a bad day..but she was a tad bit snotty at the booth at the Arnold last year.

speaking of marla, i saw craig kilborn last week and he hooked her up for a cameo on a tv show (a forgettable one)... apparently she wants to get into acting. i saw her cameo when he previewed it for the audience... ummmm... she needs to get some acting lessons.

and oxygen is a good read for me because i find it is a good motivator to look at those women..

Yeah, I see what you mean, but I can still get motivated, by looking at the magazine for 5 minutes at the bookstore.
I go out of the office for lunch and hit the bookstore across the street and just look through the mags for 10 or 15 minutes to get a break.
The bookstore's full of us cheap asses who don't want to cough up the money to actually buy the magazines. ;)

I couldn't agree more.........to me she is snotty and uglier than my dog that I don't even have. Especially, with her new dark hair. yuck!!
