Antec True Power 550 watt power supply
I am going to overclock this board to match and enhance the cpu's.

Components are here and I start the build this weekend!

I hope you don't run XP, because XP spreads each process over 2 CPU's, which is very inefficient of course. Are you going to do simulations?

Yes, I do simulations. I currently run XP and when I told my software to use both processors it did the job over 3 times faster than when letting XP decide how to spread the work. So, that isn't an issue really. Other than programs that are not designed to run with two cpus.

thanks dial tone, I am reading as I write

that one already cost me 500 bucks. What does that one offer?

I've got 6 PC's at home but i've gotten out of the upgrade game since I don't game much and the speed is useless. I just wanted to compile open source software fast. I built my dual 1.8ghz Xeon about 3 yrs ago and ever since it's just been about cutting out noise and noise since I don't have A/C. Right now I'd like to have one big dual and 2-3 Shuttle mini's.

First, you can get teh 5950 for 377 from newegg. They have great service. Second, I only mentioned the 6800 ultra b/c its the best card for gaming right now which is all I do w/ my comp. besides surf the internet.

ahhh, I bought mine a year ago so it cost a bit more then. I do CAD/MAE and photography, so I need a card that is easily and accurately calibrated and can do open gl. This card that I have doesn't do open gl that I know of, but it does do a decent job of running the cad/mae graphics. Could be faster though.

But I don't have a few grand for the top of the line cards in open gl.

Well we shall see. I'll keep you informed! Dial Tone I got two here, and a laptop. I have to keep in the upgrade game to keep my analysis runs as short as possible.
