Deadly serious.
My brother owned a racing greyhound, but it was slow and has retired at a young age. Today we took possession of this machine of a dog. I think he's about 2 years old...
He's getting used to the house at the moment:
- He walked into a window. Don't think he'd seen one before.
- We have polished wooden floor boards which were a struggle initially, but he's doing better.
- Even without having to jump, his head can rest on our kitchen benches, although he's quite good about that.
- He's had no real obedience training. Responsive to his name (Cracker) isn't that great, but improving. Despite this, he is the most gentle, placid dog you could imagine. I was absolutely amazed. He's a gentle giant in the truest sense.
- He's never had this much attention before. A house full of people to follow around and greet when they come in the door.
- He hasn't made a sound. Hardly a guard dog
But this takes the cake... When we were introducing him to the back yard he spotted our swimming pool. Curious, he walked to the edge and put a foot in, then decided that he'd go for a swim. He definately gave himself a fright and my brother quickly jumped in, not knowing whether or not the dog could swim
