So, I've hurt my chest somehow. I'm going to copy and paste some posts off a local forum I made and got very little responses to for your guy's knowledgeable opinions.
Here's the original post:
"Hey guys, though I'm not sure how I did it, I think I've pulled/strained some muscle(s), but want to reassure myself. This started Fri. morning, and hadn't done any lifting or pushups or anything since Wed (all I had done is walk).
It's weird, it does NOT hurt when I lift, walk, excercise, etc or even when I just normally sit up, move around, etc, BUT when I lay down, I'm fine UNTIL I goto move after being immobile for about 10-15 min... then, OWWW, intense pain and pressure on my entire chest. After I make it up and move around for a couple min, completely zero pain.
The 800mg Ibuprofens I have for my degenerative disc have had mixed results with it.
Point is, is this just a pulled muscle? If so, how long do I need to lay off lifting and pushups? I last did Friday (like I said, no pain while being used, but seemed to intensify after I laid down for awhile after, so I suspended planned weight training yesterday and today, though I still did walk both days) so if the pain is nott here when I wake up tomm morning, is that enough assurance to lift tomorrow afternoon after class/before work or no? What about walking - Just walking isn't going to aggravate it enough to have to stop that is it?
TIA guys,
Ryan "
So then it seemed to heal with me laying off lifting for about 5-6 days, even letting me lfit with no issue on Thur and Friday (diff muscle groups), untilt today:
"FUCK FUCK FUCK, SON OF A BITCH, FUCK.
So, today in my brilliance I decided to get my extra barbell out and set it up for some standing barbell curls to vary my workout and throw my body some new moves since I haven't done those, in gosh, a year probably. This chest issue ahd gone away around Thur/Friday and even with extensive workouts Thur and Fri had not returned.
I guess standing curls were enough of a direct stress on the particular muscle to do it though.... I hear a couple pops, fill a small bit of pain, then bam, it';s back, put down weights and lay down. Ouch, very nice and all too familiar pain.....
I am going to give this till Thur/Friday with NO lifting (as not to aggravate it as I did somewhat last week). Hopefully I caught it in time this time to make a quick recovery psosible. it >KILLS< me to have to set myslef back like this. A week or evedn 5 days feels like it's setting me back weeks (counting in lack of advancement.).
I guess I can still walk all these days though to keep the calorie deficit intact as last week I walked all but a couple days and it still seemed to heal up (until today).
This is frustrating, I didn't even have much weight on it, in hopes of ramping up the weights and reps quickly on it. Guess it just stressed this particular muscle in a very specific way that even the butterflies or flat barbell curls didn't.... "
EXCUSE THE LANGUAGE please.
I am just a bit frustrated.... Thoughts? Suggestions? Is waiting till Thur or Fri with no weight lifting whatsoever, just walking a few miles a day, enough time?
TIA.
