i believe the shampoo nizoral is over the counter

Saw Palmetto is pretty worthless for hair purposes. YOu might want to try Nizoral, and T-Gel. It won't necessarily block DHT, but your scalp will be much healthier, and in turn will help any SHT products you do end up using. Finasteride has been shown to be more effective when taken with Nizoral.
