Just received news from a good friend who is actually his over seeing physician right now. He is out of the coma but making very slow neurologic progress.
98% chance he will never compete again. It is going to be a struggle for him just to read.
That's bad news - I always talked with him during the past arnold classic expos and he seemed like a decent guy. Hopefully there was more in his life than bodybuilding which he can now persue.
it's in MD magazine, he did a photo shoot a couple of days after the Olympia. While doing a tricep excersize for the shoot he tore his tricep, and opted to have surgery the next day. From what I've read, getting put to sleep for a medical procedure has a slight risk, however the fact that he put his body through god knows how many anabolics and duretics added to this risk, and he fell into a coma.
Well, when i had surgery i felt like i got hit by a truck afterwards. Feels like they killed you, then bring you back from death. I feel for the guy. He would have never won the big one cause he is not in Joe's hip pocket.
