I have a paralegal who is trying to lose weight and asked me about orovo. I had never heard of it, but I told her I would ask around. Has anyone heard of this? Any opinions? I went to their website and it looks like a Multi-level marketing scam to me.

I dont know I've never heard of it - I'm going to google it though

i mean, is everything sold in that manner a scam?

the only thing I can think of is EVOO - LOL

our neighbor had gotten involved in this water filter MLM scam and I had to go over there and tell her to stop leaving me messages and sending me emails about it.

it was THAT bad

Huh? Tell the women to hit the iron and forget about pills or potions.
she is obese and I have TRIED to help her. I keep telling her how to eat healthy and work out, but she still can't get it into her head that there is no magic pill. It drives me crazy. She spends so much money on pills, Dr's, etc. She has had a gym membership for over a year and hasn't gone once. When I showed her what I eat (a nice friend on here worked up my diet) she said there was no way she could adhere to that diet. She brings donuts and candy to work and eats fast food. Oh well, you can lead a horse to water...

I know what you mean. I had a friend who went nuts selling Excel phone service. She used to answer the phone by saying, "if you don't have excel, you aren't excelling." I stopped hanging out with her...lol.

Sigh...I can relate with her. If her BMI is really over 40 (morbidly obese) and she is really desperate I would direct her here:

www.obesityhelp.com

That site was my home for four years and saw me through my weight loss via medical intervention. I would highly reccomend the lapband.

If I hadn't had that done, knowing what I know now, I am now a huge advocate of lifting heavy ass weights and journaling everything on fitday.com.

I'm KNOW you know all that though. :artist:

Honestly without surgery, I'd still be a fatty. For Real. The cure rate for obesity is in the gutter. Once your body knows how to be obese, you will stay that way usually.

I'm not sure what her BMI is. She is about 5' and probably in the 200 lb range. ???I'm just guessing, though.

It's prolly more than her eating. I think it would be hard to be active. The heavier people I know say they are 2ashamed to go to the gym or run outside. It's sad.

This is true.

This was a part of my thesis in college and I'd interviewed almost 200 people over the course of 18 months and that was the one constant among people I spoke to.

YES! I used to be so embarrased and uncomfortable in my own skin that I would only walk at night.

Too ashamed to go to the gym.

Well, now that I'm an attetion whore I love going to the gym. To get to a weight I was comfortable with myself...I had the surgery.

Ok, I'll hush about it now.

HR. My best friend is 5 foot 3 and close to 300 lbs.( she won't tell me her exact weight) She has more health related issues than most 80 year old's too.

I've watched her health go down and her weight go UP for over 20 years. You'd think I WOULD be able to help her, right? Wrong! She will NOT do a damn thing I tell her to do. I've offered to take her to the gym, COOK her meals for her- EVERYTHING----SHE won't even make it ONE week when I try getting her active and eating healthy. She gives up and gives in to her old habbits without even thinking twice about it.

I gave up a long time ago on her. It breaks my heart, but you just have to let go until they are ready to change. You'd think when your health and mobility starts to decline, most people would "see the light"--Nope! It's so sad to watch people do this to themselves, even harder when it's someone you love.

How did you fit your pantry into your purse? ;p

:( IT is so hard. When she comes around please refer her to the website I gave out earlier. The ability to lose 50 to 100 pounds easily really does something to your motivation and confidence. Otherwise, it's like being a million $ in debt with a salary of $20K. So hopeless.

You know, I was a fatty too but nowhere near being THAT overweight so I never understood until I read that. I have been waaaaaaaaaaay in debt (I still am but FINALLY our hard work and determination is paying off) so I GET IT... BIG TIME!!

I will have to remember that quote.

I've tried to tell her that if she only lost 20 lbs. she'd fell like a new woman. I've tried EVERYTHING to motivate her! Christ, 20 lbs is nothing when she's close to 300 lbs! I'd bet she'd lose 7 lbs in one week if she drank some damn water instead of a gallon of pop.

I saved your link. I'll e-mail it to her. Hell, I'm willing to try ANYTHING cuz I'm a total failure in helping her thus far. THANK YOU! Check your lovin section via karma. :)

Not to be mean bust if that is what she is doing she deserves to be fat.

I just got back form the gym and there is a really big girl who has been going for a while. She is slowly losing the weight and I am sooooo proud of her. It is difficult being the fattie but this girl has determination.
