What about the scarification that can result from permitting joints to stay inflamed? I know that for my minor joint injuries, anti-inflammatories and gentler exercise result in far faster recovery than either continuing to train hard (very bad idea, I agree) or completely taking time off. But then, perhaps I've just never really messed anything up that bad.

Thats why I said you need to be careful. Certain injuries can benefit from anti-inflamatories to some degree but in many other cases they can be very detrimental.

I bet frozen shoulder injuries are no where near as common as simple tendon/ligament injuries and most athletes, especially lifters, arent going to let a little stiffness slow them down so that scar tissue can develop.

For lifters, pain IS the name of the game, serious lifting can be seriously uncomfortable as everyone here knows. Exercise and intensity that would stop the average couch potato cold in their tracks is just another trip to the gym for us. When you read these descriptions of ailments etc, keep in mind that they are targeted to the general public, not serious lifters.
