open back shirt recs

What's a good open back shirt to buy (not cut). Any recs and reasons why appreciated. Thx.

I have never used anything but poly once or twice. I bench high to the nipple line, slight elbow flare, close-ish grip. 210lb BW, raw bench 335lbs. I wanted an open back shirt that I could mostly put on myself (my spotter can do a little tug here and there, but it's a commercial gym and he's the paid spotter for a few people. He can't be dressing me, and sometimes I just grab a big competent-looking guy to spot my maxes). I don't know much more than that, other than articles from the usual places about shirts that I read.

with that style of benching, i would suggest a velcro back, with the neck intact, if your mostly interested in the open back for ease of getting into and out of it easier. when you get into the fully open back shirts, you need to pull them low in the front to get the pop from them and that suits a low groove elbows in bencher much better. i would not suggest a denim with your style either. i would go with a poly with a velcro back or the stretchy back, both are very easy to get into, with minimal help. the inzer rage is by far the best poly i have used and i highly recomend it, the titan fury is a good choice as well, both come off the shelf with a stretch back and you can order either with the back open with velcro. one thing though, theese shirts are the top of the line shirts performance wise, so get the fit according to your strength level, what i mean by that is a real tight one is going to take a ton of weight to get to your chest, something to consider when deciding on what size to get.

you could get a metal viking poly shirt. double layer closed neck and velcro back. should be fairly simple to get on. gonna set you back $239 tho. metal material is outstanding, i love my pro briefs

I've used the Metal Viking Pro and this shirt, once jacked up and you figure it out, can easily give you 150 to 200 pounds once you learn it.

This shirt is no joke and you can get it on or off yourself. It ain't cheap but who cares when you pop all of those blood vessels in your head and everyone looks at you like your a freak? (one of the perks in training in a commercial gym)

the rage x is 135$ and will give you as much if not more pop than the double metal. i know lots of guys getting 150 out of the singles. and the furys and f-6's from titan are only 85$. don't get me wrong, the metal gear is good, but waaaaay overpriced. maybe worth the crazy price for the briefs and suit, but not fot the shirt when there are jsut as good, if not better shirts for half the price.

ill bump the metal viking..its the only shit ive used but i read alot of PL boards and have not heard one bad thing about metal gear..you will need someone to help you in it but its not difficult unless you buy a bigger shirt than you can get in yourself most likely..

Like scott said though the inzer rage's have great reviews and if your not looking to compete thna the cheaper inzer may be a better choice

what were most of the top benchers using at iron island last weekend?
metal is good, but the rage x is better.

unfortunately i missed it!!!! things happen
your experience is greater than mine one day soon id like to sample more shirts and see what is best for me..

i think lots of guys have their own preferences/style..
the bigger II benchers like CT and bernor use inzer denim's

travis mash stated in his journal that with metal he can bench almsot 8 and with the karins he can get 7...

bottom line everyone will have to try more than one type eventually to see what is the best fit for them..but i am very pleased with metal so far

i use the karins as well, i just got theese 2 rage's and i may be switching to them soon, i have a meet in 2 weeks adn im using the karin, but will giving theese rages a go afterwards. i tried one, the single and it takes 500 to touch in a single ply poly shirt! that is unreal! i will get 200 out of this thing when i can finally get something to my chest in it!

yes ryan switched to the rage, so did a lot of denim users, i might too after this meet, its jsut too close to switch, and i would have to open at 455-485 to get something to my chest, i dunno if im ready for that yet! :)

yeah i would think its best to stick with comfort and then like you said work the rage after this meet

Everyone has been real helpful. Thx.

I want my shirt so bad now, after reading this thread.

Really, 315 is repped (5 rep range usu) and I have a lot left in there, but I had a rotator cuff repair a year ago and I'm playing it smooth. Absolutely no problems yet, no pain, and my tris are a hell of a lot stronger than when I hit that pr months ago. I really think with a little work (like a week or two) I should handle 405 ok. That's not even asking that much from the shirt. I just have to make sure I can get it to touch.

If I go for the Titan Fury (good online price right now), should I get the loose beginner "regular" fit, or the training level "meet" fit? (I know the 2 other tighter fits will never touch now.) I'm thinking meet fit so I can grow into it a few months.

As far as competing, I don't know. I'm supposed to be a bodybuilder. But my spring show was put off a year as the organizer/mentor thought I should go a year, grow to 260 from 220, and come in real big to dominate and not just place. So I was going to spend this summer and next winter bulking and lifting heavy. While doing this last 2-3 months, a little power lifting bug has suddenly bit me. When I first pulled 405 last week and first hit 315 for reps last week, I felt so high it literally felt like I was on drugs. My head was just singing for like 20 minutes. I never felt like that before. That rush has got my attention big time . . . All day today, for example, I'm dreaming about hitting 455 for deads tonight. I can't get it out of my head; it's all I can think about today . . . Well, that and pussy. :) While I was going on and on the other day about my lifts, my wife says to me all the sudden, laughing, "Oh, so you're becoming a power-lifter now. I'm not suprised. I figured it was a matter of time." Lol.

i would go for the meet fit, go one size bigger than your chest size, example, if you have a 48 chest get a size 50.

I'm looking for a new shirt. Can I put the ragex w/ stretchy back on myself? I trian alone.

you really need someone to help get the arms seated, but it don't have to someone with a lot of experience with shirts, my son, 13 y/o, gets mine seated, they are very easy to get on. gone are the days of skin tight shirts that take 10 men and a boy to get them on, the rage, and titans with the stretch backs only need to be tight in the chest and arms, mostly the arms.

Thanks for the earthquake tip. I order saturday evening, and I woke up to find that John had already emailed me late Saturday night with some questions so as to finalize and ship my order. That's some service! Thumbs up for earthquakenutrition.com.
