What do you think of people who seriously use those sites (match.com, Yahoo! Personals,...)?

I think they put ficticous profiles of beautiful people on there to get you to sign up.

Beautiful people like myself do not need to use those sites to get dates.

Seashell's got a profile on adultfriendfinder ;)

j/k

I've checked them out. No one for 40 miles :(

do you get dates??

In fact a lot of people don't lie and put their (ugly) face in their profile and add in their description "A few extra pounds" or "large"

Ive used the internet for dating off and on for about 7 years and have become quite adept at it. Ive had a few girlfriends and even moved in with one at some point. Its basically the same as anything else except you can get a sense of what the people are like before meeting.

you must be very very very careful....."screening" is an understatement...its also a numbers game, probability factors....it takes time and lots of communication if youre in it to find a quality person...if you are a "player" you'll get what you put out...Im done with it...so many of the women lie- big time, ive had enough....about 20% are who they say they are, and look like their pics....most of the Hotties are porn chicks and or hookers, they have infiltrated the systems....my friend however just met a dream girl off of Match.com....American Singles has quality....if youre Rich you'll have no problems getting whatever you want....women are looking for professional men who have been well traveled, have yachts, large mansions, love to fly (especially for lunch), love animals and kids, who want to make more kids, speak 4 languages, have a 6 figure income, go to upscale parties, entertain guests, know how to cook gormet, send flowers on a daily basis, and love to spoil that someone special....go ahead.

I met my current girlfriend on yahoo. We've been together for six months now. I really wasn't expecting much from those sites and wound up with a keeper.

No brobdignian, you gotta use the right code words. Women want a "well educated", "ambitious", "career oriented", guy that loves to "insert-hobby-that-happens-to-cost-insane-amounts-of-money-to-screen-out-the-nonrich-guys"

Thats all they want.

I've dated someone from match.com. Most people there are genuine. The ones aren't have been fairly obvious to me.

I'll take your word for it...

One of my close buddies gets laid a ridiculous amount of times through some of those agencies.I think its a chat club or telecafe.I didnt believe him at first and some of them were glammers. It really is absurd. All you single guys I would reccomend them.

thats cool bro...good for you...i have met some really nice girls...very few tho, some i still communicate with by email or IM , mostly because of distance....it was fun just meeting and talking with them (the cool ones)...i never found anyone that I was interested in that wasnt at least 600mi away....that sucked. they are out there, im just burned out...the other problem with long distance is that, you have to make major plans to hook-up, then plan a few days of "activities"....now a simple date runs into $500-$600 at least...phone calls long distance add up quick too... :coffee:

Then yuove always got the dingbats who think its worthwhile to contact you when they live on the other side of the country. And they always seem a lot better than the bitches you are currently messing with from the internet, which adds to my pissed-offedness.

Theres some local ones that have people in my area.. not necessairly dating sites.. although i havent meet new people off them.. i have given people chances who i was only aquitences with and mite not have really gotten to know more if it had not been for the site.

Dated one guy for over 2 years

LOL!!!

I think it depends on where you live too. Prior to moving to the D.C. area, I never used a site. I started using them because I got tired of going out on dates w/ men that were more than 10 years older than me. At 26, the age difference doesn't bother me anymore. However, I was 22 when I moved here, so going out on a date w/ a 40 y.o. didn't seem right.

I have never dated anyone off the net but it seems that there are some serious concerns about long distance relationships.~~~ Oh well, such is life!!! :whatever:

lexy- i think the deal with long distance is- you had better be looking to get serious...if your looking to date or just a GF/BF long distance is not the way to go...its not cost effective at all, and you dont get to see each other, which can be frustrating... :worried: long distance committments are out the window. if your looking for a mate- i think it can work real well and has its place....the women i met from other countries and other states are completely different than from here in cali....thought process is completely different.refreshing.
i have trust issues now, real bad...i would have to put them on live web cam from day 1 if i was interested, and then go from there...so sick of being lied to....

I think they're all losers who live in moms basement. I've dated fitness models, hotties and skanks in equal measure online, SuperQT can tell you about some of the ones I met.. lol.

All but one of the women I met online were emotionally damaged, bad rebounders or had serious emotional issues.. honestly for anything other than a hook-up its a waste of time imo, but I got a one-in-a-million chance with my current gf who I met online, shes gorgeous & perfect in every way :)

yeah you got one in a million

funny we always think the one we are with is perfect and gorgeous when we are happy with them :) doesnt matter where u meet em:)

There are a ton of liars on those sites and it takes a lot of time and effort. However, with that being said it is just another avenue to meeting people. Has its pros and cons of course. My advice is to meet as quickly as possible. Do NOT let it drag for months and months of just online chatting. Meeting in the flesh should be your first priority to see if things are as they appear.

It's just like looking for a new job (spreading your resume by email)

Those sites enable to do in 1 hour what would take 3 days in "real life"
