On medication thats making me FAT...HELP!

well my doc thinks I have lupus, so as of right now hes got me on 60mg of PREDNISONE (which is an antiinflamitory) until my kidney biopsee gets done. Ive only been on it for 7 days and have already put on 12lbs of water/fat. he also has me on a crazy diet- 60g protein a day and low sodium, and right now I weigh 197lbs.......

is there anything I can do to keep from getting fat, I look like shit right now.....

PLEASE HELP!

I know how you feel. A few years ago I was on 120mg of prednisone for a while, and it's a terrible thing . I don't know what was worse, the puffiness of the horrible acne from it.

I havent got acne from it yet.....was there anything u did to keep weight gain down? how much did u gain? and did the weight come right off once u stopped the prednisone? how long where u on it?

please any advise would be great!

OK, I'm no doc of course, but it seems to me that all that water you're holding can't be permanent. How long until this kidney thing gets done? You might just be stuck waiting it out.

When I first went on it, I puffed up pretty fast, and gained a good amount of fat also. I immediately starting dieting (very very low carb, high protein/ moderate fat), and the weight came right back off. I was on the prednisone for a while, but the dieting helped a great deal and I lost all the puffiness and the fat gain.

protein is hard on your kidneys. and my kidneys are in the shitter right now.
