old pec tear....

does anyone know if there's any new procedures being done around the country that can help restore muscle in old pec tears? I tore my right pec years ago....it was an intramuscular tear, so at the time there was no surgery to be done, just rehab. Strength wise, my right side is every bit as strong as the left....but I still have a divot that although it has gotten better over the years, will probably never fully go away. I know alot of guys have had this injury, so I'm just wanting to know if there's anything new being done to get muscle to grow there. I've heard "rumors" that someone somewhere found a way to do muscle grafts. I went to the cleveland clinic, and the guy there had no clue....so that leads me to beleive that what I heard is bullshit. Supposedly though, there's a guy at duke that's doing amazing things that no one else in the country is doing with shoulder injuries and tendon tears.....?

I tore a pec also many years ago, and still have an indention. It completely changed the way I work chest, and I feel it at times even now. Don't know what you're after with surgery, but I would think by now there is too much scar tissue built up to do anything to repair it. Also, I'm certain that any recovery time would be extreem. Cosmetically I would think a Plastic Surgeon could do something to make it look better if it really bothers you, and you want to spend the money. Mine actually gives a sick separation when I flex the area. I kind of like it.

I have one too on my left side and to this day I still can't do flat bench.
I can do dumbbells as heavy as they go, but if I flat... I still feel little tears.
I have the separation and also a lump where the fibers retracted to.
I was told after all these years, I'm better off just building around it.

It doesn't bother me "that" much...because I can do any excercise fine. It's just that my left pec continues to grow while the right is always behind. So yes, I"ve considered a cosmetic fix....but would prefer a functional one. I heard that somebody in the country was doing muscle grafts for old pec tears....taking muscle from the quads or glutes.
