Belt is on backwards.

Hmmm, surely the manufactoer wouldn't have put it on backwards, too. I thought maybe another part fell out/off that I didn't know about.

When you put the cover back on does the brushes move freely not counting the resistence from the belt.
It sounds like something is restricting the brushes.

Yeah, it sounds/looks like it's working fine ... when I have it upside down. After a couple min., It has that burning smell... but the brush itself doesn't stop moving (until the belt snaps of course, lol) I don't know what's wrong with it.
