Does anyone else have this problem?

I repeat myself all day long!

Answer questions like...

"What are the numbers on my dash that keep changing?" Hello are you kidding.

"why is my stearing wheel locked"

"Why is my key not turning"

" I have this light on in my car, it has wavy lines. Something is wrong with my car"
Hello Chick it's your rear defrost button,go push the button and it will go out"

"Why is my bill so high?" You broke it,not me. LOL

I understand where you are coming from. I deal with ignorant executives that are really good at playing the political game and really bad at understanding how to perform in the role they have. Since it sounds like your are dealing with the general public all I can say is god bless you. Sooner or later natural selection has to kick in and take care of some of these people. We can all dream can't we.

It's 180 degrees backwards...and my engine warning light came on after 155 miles. I sense a trade-in coming on soon

The general population is retarded. That's the problem.

I'm fairly sure my employer is trying to drive me to utter insanity though by making me go to WAY too many meetings. I'm so frantic when I'm actually in my office as of late. I want to escape.
 
Oh, and this morning I had a bunch of paperwork on my chair that said "Please see me ASAP about this". No name. Hmmm. I'm sure I'll get chewed out by this mystery person around 3 for not getting back to them.

Question one: Your compass my not be programmed correctly, or you have a bad unit.
Question two: There are 500 things that cause that light to come on at any time. Something as simple as your gas cap not being tight enough.

There were so many recalls on the truck it crazy, Then again it a brand new model.

They never fixed it so my engine light stays on.

I'm about to roll the thing in a ditch and collect insurance on it. It looked cool...rides great....but it's like a hemaroid on Hammy's ass.....always something wrong.

That's the problem with customer service right there. Your job is to answer questions - whether you deem them "stupid" or not. If these people knew what the answer was they would be doing your job.

I have worked in several customer service positions. And yes, it is a very frustrating job. But I ALWAYS treated people with 100% respect and fully understood that people have questions about things that may be obvious to you but not to them. I get pissed because customer service in this country has gone to shit and nobody does anything about it. It's a job that is frustrating and entails interacting with a lot ofdifferent people, some that are nice and some that are complete assholes (I've been spit at before). But that's the job. If I ever get into work where I have influence on operations, customer service is the first thing I would look at. Maybe I misinterpreted what you said, but it seems like you think you are better than these people that ask "stupid" questions and you let that become evident in your interactions with them. Maybe you don't.
 
No, I help them the best way I can. If I sucked at my job, I would not have as long as I have. However, I must be somewhat nice because I have never had anyone spit on me.

But I do understand where your coming from. You Just Misunderstood me.
 
The US OFTEN outsources customer service jobs to india. the labor is cheaper, and they educate them in POLITENESS, and the proper way to speak to a customer. I know not all places in the US can do that- certainly not small companies where they may only have a few customer service people, but wouldn't it be nice if you knew not every US customer service rep was rolling their eyes at you when you ask a question (most of which probably seem stupid to them).

As I am sure you know, even the nices person will get assholes that do things like spit on them. It had nothing to do with me - it was at a casino, which is just a tough environment to work in, in general.

I do seem somewhat over protective of the ladies, don't I? But it's not just the ladies. Frankly, it pisses me off when people jump on other people without fully understanding their intent. I treat people on here the same way I treat them in real life.
You seem pretty spitefull with people. I don't know if I'm just noticing, or if you've always been like this. Covergrl did nothing to set you off, yet you come out swinging & questioning her work ethic. Why is that?

that's how I am. for all the people that try and protect others (especially women) there HAVE to be people like me to balance things. otherwise we would have a nation of pansies that can't handle life and tough situations on their own.

and I have always been this way. if you knew me, you would know that I am an extremely happy person. very funny too. but pissed at the world at the same time. this is why I am somehwhat of a "loner" - I don't like anyone enough to be their friend. they all piss me off. and I had every right to act the way I did with covergirl due to her comments. perhaps she should have explained things better. this is the internet - you only have words to look at. it leaves a lot up to intepretation, which is always a dicey situation and certainly not my fault. her attitude towards customer service is extremely poor. life isn't always roses and tulips.

Sometimes I wonder about the genius who decided that DEFROST should be replaced with -_-_-_. Yeah, the illiterates are confused, so let's confuse everybody instead?

We do have a chance to make real progress here, though. It comes when someone realizes "Hey, I'm getting asked the same three questions over and over. Maybe we could fix that."

I have a problem with people that don't think. I try to be more accomodating of people that are just plain stupid, even though I may get inwardly frustrated. I feel where she was coming from, & I think she just came here to vent, not get dumped on.
If she made a thread that seriously suggested that less intelligent people should be euthanized, I wouldn't commiserate.

I never said "seriously" that she should be euthanized.

Simply pointing out that your behavior is inconsistent. I did not call her "fucking stupid", as she called several other people. So why not attack her? Cause she is a woman? Or cause you don't know the people she attacked? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Luckily for me and the general public I am not in a customer service position. Although we do have a group of clients in right now standing 10' from my desk. Just the sound of their boss' voice is making me homicidal. I hate arrogant, snotty, know it all bastards.

OK, I'm not making myself clear here.
I'm not going to get into the why's & wherefore's about why & when people insult other people. But, if you read the first page carefully, you would see that Covergrl felt that she was among friends & could deal with her frustration without offending anybody. That would be apparent to all who read it. Is she supposed to keep that frustration inside, forever, untill she has a heart attack? it was the internet version of going outside & screaming, arrrrrrrrrgh! But she didn't want to scare anyone, so she did the next best ething.
& you appeared to take it as a self critique of her job performance.

I have no idea how covergrl performs her job, but I do have one thing to say about employees who have to deal with people on a regular basis.

I do not enjoy feeling as if I am bothering an employee when making a purchase. One example would be a cashier at a supermarket. I often notice cashiers get angry when you enter their line while nobody else is in front of you; as if they are enjoying a break and you are disturbing them. Fuck you. Don't like your temporary, pays for your matinee movie showing since your highschool boyfriend only takes you on cheap nite and still makes you pay for your own movie ticket job? Get another one.

I used to sell, then later install, car audio products at my local Best Buy. Car audio is a niche in electronics; most of my customers knew nothing about the differences between CD player X and Y. I went into the job being fully aware of this. When I received questions such as, "will this play a burnt CD?" or "so I push this little button and the face comes down?" or "so this plays through my CAR speakers, right?" I did not get annoyed. I simply made them feel comfortable with a smile and answered their question professionally, making sure not to degrade their intelligence. Sure, I can analyze signal to noise ratio, or even explain how RMS differs from peak power, but not every customer will deem these things important to research on their own. My point is this: you are employed to treat every customer equally, to handle every situation as a true professional. Now be nice and know your role.

Your example of the grocery store people makes me glad all the stores near me are union. They get payed enough to at least pretend to be happy to see you. Although in my vast travels I run into unhappy checkers a bunch.

You are 100% right about what customer service is all about. And since I am completely incapable of being nice for extended periods of time, I have never attempted to get a CS or sales job.

You know who I really think is stupid? & I have noooooo problem telling them so.
Those fuggin guys that ride their bikes in the winter. Idiots! Because of daylight savings time, it's dark out earlier. They're all bundled up in the Olive Drab parka's with no freakiin lights on. Hood up over their head so they have no perifferal vision. Streets are slushy, traction is lessened, lanes are narrower. Sidewalks are snowy, they have no fricken traction, they can barely stay up, their brakes don't work. & they take their friggin life in their hands!
