Oh well, it doesn't look like Barry Bonds

will be able to keep up his home run pace the remainder of the season, barring a major hot streak and more good pitches to hit. Instead of going down as the single season homerun record holder, he'll have to settle for being the greatest player of the most recent generation, pending longer tenure from A-Rod and Griffey.

Told ya, what is it now 20 homerless games? The guy cooled down, he probably started thinkin about it and not to mention all the media coverage probably didn't help. I could see him gettin 55-60 homers this year tops. Still a good season for him, though he will probably leave San Fransisco when his contract is up and go else where in hopes of a ring.

He going to end up with a walk record at this pace. I was hoping for a record run.

He's been notorious for putting together incredible halfs, either first half or second. Looks like it was the first half this year. I would like to see him get hot again, I think all he needs is a good week to get him going again.

Jeff Kent is in a mini-slump right now so they are walking Bonds or else just not giving him anything good to drive. So until Kent warms back up or gets out of this rut, it looks like its more walks and base hits.

Bonds hit a homer the first game back after the All-Star game so it has only been 4 games without a homer, just under 20!!! Not quite time to put him out of the hunt yet. Hell do you think Big Mac had a jack every game? Its a marathon not a sprint........there will peaks and valleys.......PANIC BUTTON ALERT!!!!! PANIC BUTTON ALERT!!!!

Perhaps you would like to put a couple bottles of eq on the line? I say 60 tops, and thats being generous.

YEah Sosa has been on a tear, I would'nt be suprised to see him up around 60 again. Plus, he hits absolute bombs these days. Hell, his are going further than McGwire's recently, although Big Mac looks like he starting to hit again...And Kent has'nt been the power threat this year that he has been the past few seasons... it seesm like Bonds walks 3 times a game...

bonds is an arrogant fuck who let the media get in his head....

You make a good point. I just don't think he's going to make it. He gets hurt every year. I hope he stays healthy and makes a run at it. I just don't think he will.

I was at Shea Stadium over the weekend and heard some peon behind me say that Bonds chokes up on the bat too much to hit 70 HR's. His friend asked him how many he'd hit and he said about 65. This is the kind of element i'm forced to spend a Saturday afternoon with.

ROFLMFAO Yep if he didn't choke up he would hit at least 70 hell maybe even 75 or 80..... I can't believe they haven't had him do that yet......stupid fucking hitting coaches

What does that have to do with his skill as a ballplayer?

Well actually Days it doesn't have anything to do with his skill but as Yogi said "Baseball is 90% mental, the other half is physical"

The mental aspect of any sport is what seperates the levels of the pros. Most baseball people will tell you that by the time you are in AA Ball 90% of all the players have the same skill level......its the ones that have the mental part of the game down that make the jump to AAA or the big leagues and then again to stay in the big leagues you have to be very on top of your mental game.
