Nosey Work People.....

Do any of you work with REALLY nosey people?
I never inquire about others ppl’s lives at work. I don't care where they were if they were not in or ask what's wrong if they look sad etc. I just feel that's being nosey. Not that I don't care if they are ok, I just don't care to ask.
Last Friday I was off due to illness and almost everyone in my dept and others were in my face the second I got in this morning. They asked me “Where u were last Friday?” Are you ok?” How come you did not come in?”
Some of these same people will hear me laugh from my office and come in and ask "what were you laughing at"
Or they hear me blow my nose and they will poke their heads into my office and say "Do you have a cold?" (I would love to reply "do u have a life")
I don’t even know how to reply to these idiots…..am I taking this too personally?!
How would you handle this?!

Work in a small family company , huh? It seems smaller offices breed this type of "family" enviroment.

When I worked in the huge corporate system, I did not have time to get involved with other peoples lives. It was kinda nice, yet, it also kinda sucked that I did not have your social type situation at times too.

Well this company is HUGE, I just think these guys SERIOUSLY have no lives!
Listen, I talk to everyone here, but I never inquire about personal stuff with them, but they feel they can with me!
 
lmao. are you serious? if you sneeze, they will ask about it? regularly? a random question here and there is fine, especially if you're sneezing or coughing all over the place. if you were out for a number of days, i can understand that curiosity as well (unless this is a regular occurrence). otherwise...that sounds like a bit too much inquisitiveness. if you converse with someone regularly (especially an attractive woman...there's always that factor somewhere), it's not strange to bring something up...but not the same thing over and over again, or over each and every little detail.
 
If it makes you feel any better, I wouldn't talk to you at all if we worked together.

basically we can interpret anything in a positive or negative light...

Not judging you, however you could have interpreted this as they care about you and felt honored (that in my opinion is more of a postive interpretation).

There is now way they act this way out of caring. They are nosey, trust me!
Caring would be respecting my privacy.
Caring would be not asking "where were you"
Asking How are you is fine, but when they want to know why I took a day off...............I mean mind your own biz

Very serious!

I am rarely off from work. When I had my sick leave a month back, then yes I understood the questions like "How are u" etc...I hated the "What happened, we heard you were never coming back b/c u were dying of cancer" RUMORS!
But I never never take time off, but took last friday off b/c I was sick and you got these guys asking WHY i was gone.....WHY is no one's biz but my boss.
Or if I sit quiet and read the paper and eat lunch at my desk. They come in "what ya eating, what ya reading"
I have to put a "do not disturb" sign and then they get offended!
 
Stop sexually harassing me!!!

that always makes them stay out of the office and bothering you..

but you don't get asked to lunch very often either..
 
i would bug you with questions ED, because i love you so much and make my heart glad.

examples:

"what does your lovebox taste like?"

"ever had a tongue 2 inches deep inside your cornchute?"

"would you like a list of bodily fluids which would look lovely on your bare chest?"

etc...

my attitude rocks. it's your 2 day old donut-ish threads that lack any flavor that makes me want to hit you with a tennis racket....so, i hope you get a paper cut before your boss orders you to squeeze him some lemonade....
 
I HATE nosey people!

I worked with a girl who would come into my office when I was in court. One day she gave me the third degree about some supplements that I had on my desk. She wanted to know if they were diet pills. She was always asking what I eat, how much I weigh, stuff about my husband, where I buy my clothes. Damn, she was annoying.

Now my father is that person in my life. He just never lets up. He wanted me to show him my belly the other day. UMMMMM....NO....AKWARD! I just flatly refused to lift my shirt and show him my prego belly. He asks about my car insurance. He asks about my love life. He asks about ANYTHING. The man knows no boundaries to his nosiness.

damn, is that wrong??? i'll have to back off from asking my kids things that are important to them..

by the by.. i took a pic journal of both of them through their pregnancies, put it in a book for them..

He just wants to be there for you, and is doing his best.. but i understand..

Peeps I worked with on the road would get bent because after work I wouldn't socialize with them.

After spending 10 hour days with them I didn't fell the need to go have diner, drinks, etc ... with them.
 
this was a pet peeve when i was in corporate. for many, their work life was their entire life, so they felt like it was one big happy family or fraternity. :sick: I couldnt have cared less about their shit, why be concerned about mine??

I care about their shit and will listen if they talk about it, but i never EVER come right out and inquire about their personal life.

ugh.....the chick at work sounds like a ball of ANNOYANCE!

Nosey peeps are the worst. I have a friend who asks EVERYONE she knows or meet how much money they make.................weird!
