Normal People :(

NORMAL PEOPLE.......

what ever happened to them?

it seems like everyone has to try to be somethen that they are not.

and it seems that everyone trys to size everyone else up in a crowd.

whatever happened to being yourself, and not trying to compete with evryone else and their mother?

also whats up with all the the people who try to give you that "I am suffering inside and am in touch with my dark issues, so I wear crappy clothes and dye my hair every other day for attention, even though I am a trust fund baby"?

what happened to being not so self-absorbed , and more giving?

We live in a capitalist system where being on top is regarded as "success". Some people understand that and know that they cannot achieve that without being or pretending to be someone they are not.

Maybe you're the one that's not normal. I mean, how normal is it to post a thread whining and complaining about how diverse people are. Sounds like you're a big fat Nazi! :FRlol:

LOL....I know what you mean OMEGA....I see it too often!!

It takes so much time and energy to be something that you not.
So, I guess, the way I think of it is...

"Hey World, I'm toga...if you don't like me....who cares." :wavey:

Which probably isn't right either, but it works!! :)
All I can do is treat everyone with the equal respect and consideration, work hard, and be honest with myself and others. I have lived long past the days of trying to impress others....and I have discovered that in the end it gets you nowhere. Besides the harshest judge in life...is how you judge yourself.

As far as self-absorption goes...It was never allowed when I was growing up. I was taught to always put others in front of myself and to never consider myself as any better, no matter what the situation. My Dad's theory, and one in which I strongly uphold, was..."The person whom you turn your back on...may very well be your own lifeline in the future....."

that is a good point.

but I recognize that everyone has excentricies, hell thats what makes an individual an idividual and distinct from others.

waht I am talking about is gross inflation of ones charater traits for selfish and egotistical purposes, and trying to display and "image".....that is exactly an image.......not real.

the CURE:rolleyes: up yonder made a good point imo about how one needs to adopt a certain personality seperat efrom there own to conduct themselves and succeed in the "rat race" of business.

I would further that argument and point out that not only is there a rat race in the business world but also a "perceptual hierarchy" of competition, that has nothing to do with the business worls persay, but rather a competition of egos among us in society so when are stratified culturally as well

who benifits by this viciuos game you may ask?

the advertising industry, that needs to sell an image so producers can sell us a product. Therefore the perpetuation of iferiority complexes are essential so we feel that we must by good or product to augment are "self worth". And our culture has now been conditioned as well to be competitive and highly selfish and indivudualistic.

thus we see the symtoms. selfish people running around pursuing there percieved self interests, while simultaneously sticking out like a sore thumb to recieve attention via a certain look, or behavior that is not there own. but rather a temporaily puchased identity from the industry that poisons us

what a sick game

if any one read this I added a couple of sentences:)
