Is there a way to flag the threads I write so they're easier to look up, that is, so they'd come up on my profile page? Specifically, can non-plats do this?

You can subscribe to threads, I believe that both non plats and plats can do this. Its been years since I have been non plat so forgive me if I'm not up to speed on the functionality that non plats are missing.

When you find a thread that you like, click on the THREAD TOOLS at the top right of the thread. Choose the option SUBSCRIBE TO THIS THREAD.

Then when you go to your profile, you should see it on your list of subscribed threads.
