After reading the Derren Brown thread, I've been doing some reseach on NLP. It is really cool stuff. Gonna try some techniques at happy hour tonight and see if I can get me some booty. JK, I just want to see if I can get any of this stuff to work.
 
Oh fuck. We got another KB / GD in the works. Think they are going to be doing some 2 second seduction crap.
 
Neuro Linguistic Programing. It is a pretty intersting subject. Kinda like hynotic suggesting. Its a lot about body movements and reading other people, then planting the seeds of suggestion.

Not at all. I know that is a farce. But understanding how the mind maps is very intersting to me. For example remember a time when you were really in love with someone. What do you remember about it? About that moment when you really felt it. Maybe it was a dance you shared a touch of her hands on your shoulders, deep gazes into each others eyes while you where holding each other on the dance floor. What was the song that was playing? What were the smells you remember? All those things are engrained in your mind.

Years later maybe the two of you are in the car and hear that song again and all those feeling and senses can come back to you. NLP is a way to understand those senses working and how you can munipulate them.

And honestly, NLP - at least the NLP that works well with people - is a VERY complex system. Can't be executed properly with a few lines and 5 minutes spent on wikipedia. I've read a few books and still don't fully understand it.

Still, good for you for learning about it. The way I see it, there's 2 types of people in the world. Those that just "do" without ever stopping think why they are doing and those that take the bold and somewhat scary step to learning why they do and what effects their actions, words and movements have on the "external" world.

Obviously it is MUCH easier and safer to call any type of psychology or sociology "bullshit", cause it takes people out of their comfort zone.

Dude, if you want to understand this kinda stuff, it's probably covered in basic psychology and abnormal psychology texts in a generalized form. Extrapolate into a specific scenerio, and boom, you got neuromuggawugga exohypnosexualperception (NMWEHSP).

I won't even comment on the psychology of language use that these schemes use to hook people...

So honestly, (forgetting about all pretenses or even experiences you have had with whatever schemes you are referencing), you don't believe that language has ANY effect on people whatsoever? Words are just words, doesn't matter how you string them together or group em or when you say em?

Agreed. For me it has been a long year already of finding out a lot about myself. So this is really just an augment to that inner search. Without spending 100$ an hour on a thearpist.

Not sure if you are asking me or S. I do think words are a big part of it for sure. Just like how commericals have stragicly placed words in the sentence made to get a desired response.

Well, there's a 2-part response to that. 1) If you do believe that words have effects on people, then 2) you have to logically believe that this could be the case in any situation if applied properly (seduction, biz negotiation, etc.).

As a matter of fact, I work in a field that is 100% anti-advertising (it's a dead medium). :)

if you have bearshare then search under ross jeffries, nlp, and speed seduction. it will take work and time and patience to learn everything. the best thing is to find somebody who is good at it already and let them teach you. don't try it half ass and just a few times and say it didn't work. it's like getting good at playing a sport.
